Went back to my silverless house site yesterday....

Not as muddy now. The ground has thawed so the rain can drain away  Last time I posted about this spot Vern mentioned that there is a lot of old stuff in the ground up here. The property owner had told me it was a large house but yesterday I got a few more details. Apparently this place had 28 rooms. Including 12 bedrooms, two kitchens a large library and servants quarters. The original owner bred beef cattle. The debris field is about 100'x 800' but I had always wondered why the foundation stone pile was so small. Turns out his grandfather used most of it to build the house he lives in now. The original house was built sometime in the 1820's and burned around 1880.

Anyway, yesterday I took another 5-6lbs of iron out of the ground as well as various bits of copper, brass and lead.

No copper coins this time but I finally got silver :)

The badly pitted 1874 dime was right in the middle of the worst area next to a big chunk of cast iron pot. The very worn 1817 shilling was a nice clean signal I shouldn't have missed last time I was there  Britain must have sent a wack of those over. I've found 3 shilling coins and all have been 1817. Included the black glass button cause I like them  No idea what the brass thing is. Its not broken, hollow and has holes drilled in four spots. Tip for a walking stick maybe

Gorgeous day outside but I have to pack (insert Smiley of small boy on his stomach kicking and pounding his fists on the floor) or Conchita will have my arse in a sling.

Thanks for looking and GH, Chris
