Nothing but chump change and ying/yang ring. The coins are so badly corrodid, too much fertilizer run off from the yuppies Yards. The outer skin on the coins are just blistering with bubbles. I have never been asked so much about detecting then today at this beach, and I promoted the Minelab detectors...one old guy will most likely buy one he seemed very interested. So I did alot of digging and advertising for Minelab....I think I should get payed...or better yet...a free WOT would be nice!!! LOL... I am getting tired of the beaches the amount of chump change compared to the $ I use for the meters is freaking rediculous....it's time to try some lagoon hunting...(Lakes and ponds.)

Look at how bad the coins are! I am not sure if I would let my kids play on this beach, they might get fertilizer burns on there feet, yet worse they might put there fingers in their mouths after touching this crap! I am not really sure what is causing such bad blistering coins but I know I am not going back!

THAT IS THE CHEMICAL RESULT FROM THE METAL THEY USE IN THE COMPOSITION OF THE COIN,NOT FERTILIZER.THE MINT WAS TOLD THAT WOULD HAPPEN WHEN THEY FIRST PRODUCED THEM.I GUESS THAT WAS THEIR INTENT.

You have it right, the enviromental nuts petitioned the FED to use money that corrodes with time (thus keeping the ground pristine -albiet with, thousands of zinc spots!). That coupled with the cost of copper being more than what the coins were worth pushed the Treasury into using copper plated Zinc. We as a community, ought to push hard to put silver back into our coins and go for 1, 2, and 5 dollar 90% silver coins as well. Many other countries now use higher denom coins. This would promote the mining industry, provide jobs and put good American coins on the world market instead of the junk we have to day. First class nation with last place coins. Remember when we used to whine about cheap quality asian products? It won't be far down the road when all our coins will go to plated zinc if we don't push to reverse the trend.
Now the thought of dredging up $5 silver coins puts a smile on your face, doesn't it?: clapping::clapping::clapping:

well wbm3 tails and wbm4 heads...tails is bubbles (blisters) and heads is bad and showing like copper or rust it is a 1976...... wbm5 is penny with hole blown out...wbm6 is hole patched....wbm7 is 1964 nickel starting to look like quarter...so when did they start doing this?.....or maybe it is the fertilizer!!!

NOt to mention the fact that store clerks don't even value a penny anymore. If I buy something for $1.76 and pay with $2.00, I usually end up getting 0.25 back....

Wow those are nasty coins! A 76p is all copper so maybe that stretch of beach should be quarantined ( or maybe a reserved beach for those guys at the Mint to play). I vote for 90% silver pulltabs! That ought to sell detectors, huh?
