Usally use whites xlt idx mxt and garret's and a fisher,so always wondered about a minelab got explorer xs and the ex 2 >so since they arrived it has been snowing and i run out in the yard and try to hunt and one time to school yard so far found few dimes quarters at school yard near swing set of course something was going to be there so that doesn't count. In my yard found rusted bolt and some foil shaped like nickel a piece of copper tubing and junk.Kind of frustrating different machine to get use to new sounds and different screen it seems to go deep.So i will keep trying and read different books and come to class room for information.Yes i love my xlt and yes i really like the minelab it has been hitting some deep targets though i think there junk hard to get a good swing in because of snow and need to get use to good items that are deep and what they sound like.So any one in class room who has control over weather please clear it up over here so i can find some silver or get a decent swing in for a few hundred feet.Been hunting little 4x4 squares kicking snow out of the way,and now it is late Friday night and the snow is still outside my window so i hope it will melt by morning.have the emulator on computer played with that on and off,now iam bored and have two new used detectors that i want to use and learn and what do you expect when you get a new toy something happens even in summer get a new coil rains in your area for days or the brown truck you are waiting for that the building is only 20 minutes form your house leaves out for delivery at 7 am and doesn't come to your house till dark and then it starts to rain .also have 6 inch ex coil on order from kellyco which i have this coil for my other machine and they are good coils, you guessed it paid next day they call its on back order still waiting but i do have stock small coil for explorer and i like it.So i will keep running out for 15 minutes at a time and see if i find a coin in the yard i missed.thanks for listening

What can i say to this post.... oh i know it was 75 here yesterday. Let me just say this to you....NEVER TRADE A DETECTOR UNTIL ITS PAID FOR ITSSELF.... especially an explorer or you wont learn it. Cant tell you how many people give up after a few months or say i learned it and dont like it in a month or two. Ive had the SE since it came out and i still learn new tricks. These are great deep silver machines. Everyone hunts with these machines differently. I dont really swing my coil i kind of push it a round in trashy areas. The tones take a little time but are the most important... then watch the smartscreen and learn it. There is a lot the smartscreen will tell you that you just cant get from the digital screen.

It was 75 there man must be nice. Not giving up on the minelab didn't think it would be that different. Been hunting about 15 years or more, i think it is a good machine just going to take some time too change up .Just waiting for a break in the weather and iam excited to be able to use it to it full extent i have know doubts that it will find deep items, never sold any of my detectors there still here just never had a minelab didn't say any thing bad about it,yes i know it takes some time to learn just use to xlt screen the minelab smart screen moves around a lot and iam not exactly sure where the coins are even after air testing have to get out in the field it works well on my test garden coins even with the small coil it hits hard and those are at least 7 inches, just wish it was spring or summer so i could go out for a while and start finding some coins.I have been on the forum since 2005 and have 3,719 post this makes 3,720.This is why iam here to pick up tips and wait for it to be 75 here.I usually dont get to excited when some one mentions another machine brand because they all work different in different parts of U.S..I have a beach here fresh water Lake Erie under it is the salt mines Morton salt world wide but fresh water hardly have any machine that works correctly at the beach something in the sand but iam excited that i believe the minelab will work because of the noise cancellation and iam hoping to find some good items.I was hoping to have a machine to work at the beach and land so now i look out the window and there is snow on the ground while it 75 there.now i can only look at my 7 machines and pretend it is summer. Thanks for writing.
