I have waitied a LONG time for this.
I called corporate headquarters in Moline Illinois to tell John Deere I am retiring in december.
I'll be leaving the best job I've ever had, and a great group of people.
But, I WANT my life.
As I tell my wife Julie, 'I need to heal my soul"
The best way to do that is in the warm waters of Florida.
We have reservations for a month down in Panama City, I had two weeks, but I couldn't find a spot farther south.
So, we'll stay there for a month, then store the truck and trailer, and come home until mid march.
By then spaces are opening up down towards Miami.
I'll drive back down, pick up the trailer and head down south for another month or so. then back home to do whatever I feel like.
It's all I think about now, I can't wait.:wiggle:

Good luck during your pension and keep your eye on all politicians. Some how they don't like the working class to enjoy them.

and ain't never looked back. I still do the things I've always done, but do watch spending much more than when the money was flowing.
I went the day after I turned 55, so before my health prevented me from doing what I enjoy, I rolled the dice and started young. Down the road, I may end up having to get some sort of a job, to make ends meet, but it probably will be after my body parts, start failing me.
I tell everyone, I will have a smile on my mug, when they close my casket.

As you will shortly find out it's the greatest feeling in the world to reach your final graduation day. It's been 10 years for me and I'm only sorry I didn't do it earlier. Our best to you and Julie!:welcome:

If you retired at six figures and worry about the future, somthing is wrong.I hope the six figures weren't-$O20,000,you would be in big trouble.Just joking

Life is to short..........go and do as you please while you can. And for all you youngins' out there.......make sure you work for a good company or the govt........self employment suxs and you don't get to retire early.

What a great day this has been. I was able to go over to my mothers and bail her out of a problem with her water lines. (thats what I do every day at work), So that felt good to be able to help her.
Worked on my own project at home the rest of the day, building a bigger and better corn storage box outdoors. Seed moths LOVE my basement since I made the mistake of storing some containers of shelled corn all summer. Darn stuff is a maternity ward for the critters.
Back to work tomorrow, counting down to the big day in december when I can start doing for me and Julie!!
Gotta get out with that new detector next weekend.
Grumpy is claiming he got four gold rings today, we have a bit of a competition every year over who will find the most.
If he's not exaggerating, that puts me about four behind. Gotta get busy!!:detecting:

Congrats !!!!!!
Nothin wrong with Panama City,You'll love it !!! If ya get time, drive over to Pennsacola,I love it there too.Did you read my post a couple weeks ago about a couple places to go in P.C.?

Wish you well in your endevour to "heal your soul"
