Headed out today with my long time buddy Wil and we hit a new home. Turns out this place is listed on my 1855 Atlas but, has tomb stones on the property of deaths in 1831.
We where granted permission and really had a great time chatting with the owner. Turns out he is in a adjoining Historical Society close to the area I help with.
He gave us permission to come back and we even got to see his antique's as he is a collector. Pretty neat things for sure.
Well, we set out upon the front yard area and right away. I got 2 Indians and Wil was still hunting when I heard him give a shout so, I shut mine down and went over and wow he had a nice green 64 Indian in his hand.
I told him it almost looked as though it had a L in it headband. I told him we would pull out the loop and check it when we where ready to go. This is a first for Wil as well. He was with me years ago when I got my 64L so, it was great to see him finally get one.
I got another Indian and a nice old copper ring and old compact later.
Towards the end of our hunt I was sweeping around a tree and I got a good solid hit (that highest pure tone with clarity that is un-mistakable) About that time the homeowner came up and sat down to watch to see what I might have.
As soon as I pulled it out Wil says Large Cent (he walked over to see as well) and it was. I had no idea it would break a 32 year record for my oldest U.S. minted coin. It was a happy site to see a ladies bust facing right.
There are a few variations of the 03 but, I could care less it is holed and to me its a keeper.
We had a great time today as usual and when we go back the owner asked (as I offered) to bring another machine so, he could look around and give it a whirl.
I will say this yard holds some fine condition Indians and that gets my blood a pumping.
Returning should be even more fun as this place is very prime and large.
Here are my dig photos from today below.
