Well the secret is out..

Garrett has replaced the Scorcher coils on the GTI's with an imaging version of the PROformance coils. I've had one for a month or so but haven't been able to get out much to test it with this miserable deluge of rain we've had for the past 30 some days but it seems to be a winner.

All the repackaging is nice, but a smaller imaging coil? ...Willy.

It's a little difficult to put two receivers and a transmitter in a small coil.

One can always hope. It's one of the big drawbacks to the GTI imaging system that the only way to really hunt with it in dense trash is to raise the coil up high. I'm a ground scrubber and it really goes against the grain. If Garrett could somehow shoehorn the extra coil into a smaller unit it would make the GTI series just that much more attractive. It would probably also boost the sensitivity to small targets a bit. ..Willy.

Yeah I keep hoping. Maybe the engineers will stumble upon the secret someday on how to cram all that electronics into a 4.5 inch coil. Would be a real dandy for sure.
