Well, the latest repair on the Excal held up nicely , now i need a nylon bolt fot the coil mount deally. Will this ever end??

Heh...I guess it will end when you quit detecting.

From the sounds of your posts though, some may think that you are saying the Excal is prone to failure. Which while it may have it's faults, I wouldn't say it was prone to failure any more than any other.

You wore through the seam in your coil. That's a usage issue. I've used mine heavily for 2 years and the coil is in mint condition. My nylon bolt is the original one. And as far as I can tell, it's no different than the nylon bolt in my Fisher CZ-70. I've never had the slightest problem with my machine. True, I did replace the shaft and the knobs. But only because I wanted to mod it for my personal taste and performance. Like when I bought my '91 Ford Mustang and began to replace parts on it before it had 1500 miles on it. There wasn't anything WRONG with it, but I did improve upon it. It has 226,000 now.

I don't really have a point here... :)

Just laughing at the string of events, but it still finds the stuff. how are you doing? haven't seen anything from you lately.

You know I have issues with this machine's fit and finish but you probably also know that the Excal has been very good to me when it comes to find Goodies.
To that end I have reinvest some of my finds into my Machine to shall I say 'Customize It'. I've always been a bit of a gear junkie.
Stay tuned for more developments.

Yeah, I've been doing quite a bit of reinvesting myself lately. I've sold several hundred dollars worth of my finds in the last month or so and have been buying stuff like a new straight shaft, a 72-ring display case, scales, motorcycle chain, handlebars, and soon a diamond tester. All good, being they were mostly "free" or at least paid for by my hobby. Gotta love it!

Well you know, some of us still have to WORK for a living. So I hunt on the weekends, as you know. Did you see these, from last weekend?
