I was reading the forum, and rereading the forum and when I came to the posts about the rain and the environmental cover for the Ace. I looked over at my trusty detector rack and realized my GTI 2500 was filthy again and that if kept pressing the pinpoint button with muddy fingers it wasn't going to last long. I hunted around looking for a good price on the cover for the 2500, found it at a large Florida based MD shop that John likes, and ordered one. I also ordered the 4.5" scorcher coil and a new book for the next rainy day.

I think that completes my wish list for MD items I want, or need.

Quick question. I know the 4.5' coil is not an imaging, coil but does it give a depth measurement?

Chris

Nope. The imaging grid which shows the size and depth does not function with my 4.5 scorcher non-imaging search coil. ...........But it ain't the end of the world, I guess. Spoiled?????????? Naaaaa,,, It's just too easy, it telling you what and how far to dig.........LOL.

Mike.

What about the depth meter above the imaging grid?

Chris

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! it still works,,,,,,,,thank God!!! Yea it still brings up the little black square under the coin sizes when scanned. Please forgive me as I am new to this MDing and have had my 2500 three weeks now and have only been able to get out 4 times for an hour or so each time. Been playing with it a little in the house, too. Trying to learn more about it, but need the "on the job training".LOL.

Hope this helps Cwilk, as I feel like I shouldn't be posting answers to questions when I am a newbie at this.

Thats exactly why I keep my on all the time. Keeps all that dirt from
getting in the pinpoint button. Also generally protects the thing if I
let if fall over, run into brush, etc.
I didn't get mine from Garrett though.. Some other place..
I think the ones Garrett sells are black?
Mine looks about the same, cept it's yeller feller yellow
with black piping I think.
