Well old age has caught up with me:sad:

Hate to admit it ,but age is catching up with me.Just found out that I have hearing impairment on both ears ,the left ear as being the worse. There are certain sounds that are giving me problems like balancing my excellent vaquero I can get close, but not to my satisfaction. My detecting friend can set it great and shows excellent depth.
As much as I hate too seems like need to find another detector with an auto.g.b. or a pre-set g.b.So, as it stands need some advise as to what detector offers good depth and good discrimination regardless of model or brand.:help:cjm

Some of the Whites will track to the proper setting. Pump and go so to say..

My hearing was damaged by a noisy environment while in the USN. As I have ages my hearing has gotten much worse.

The audiologist that I see for my hearing aids tells me that I have "Profound" hearing loss. So I wear hearing aids. The only time I do not wear them is when I know that I will be detecting in the water. Don't want to dunk them when a wave knocks me down.

If you do not wear hearing aids you are cheating yourself by not being able to hear far more than what you realize.

When Dirt fishing I tried taking my hearing aids out after getting one of those deep targets that just whispers and I could not hear the target at all without the aids

Yes they are expensive but in the long run they are worth the cost.

You are not alone CJM. your condition mirrors mine. Curious if you are left-handed....?
Good depth and disc? For me that would be the Minelab Sovereign. Super depth (even with the 8" tornado coil - actual 7 1/4"), Accu-Trak Digital Ground Balance, fixed and automatic ground tracking etc. If you have never used one, I believe you would be well pleased.

Look at the Tek T2 Classic

Buy a XP Deus and when coupled with the new MI-6 probe you also get a visual image as you near the find.

If the users hearing is not to good its a great help. Jerry.

XP Dues is the answer, so much lighter to handle and you can set the sounds for all of the number segments from low sounds to very high sounds, you can experiment and the sounds that you don't hear well you can change to sounds that are better for you.
Example: if the Nickel sound is too low and hard to hear set it at a higher sounding note. Same with any coin or ring segment can be changed to your liking.

Once you get use to the Deus it is a very remarkable machine with hundreds of settings.

33 years of exposure to siren noise in the fire service has left me with tonal gaps in my hearing. I use a Tesoro Tejon, it's adjustable output tone works great for me. Good headphones are also a must, I use Grey Ghost originals.

Makro's Racer 2 has fully adjustable/customizable tones between 100Hz and 700Hz. You can choose which tones you hear best and assign them to TID's.

The Racer 2 also has a vibrating handle. The vibration can also be customized to your liking.

Pair it with a pair of Black Widow headphones that are designed for detectorists with special hearing requirements.

When I got my current set of hearing aids the Audiologist programmed the aids so that the high frequencies that I can not hear are presented at a lower frequency that I can hear. Took a little bit of use to become accustomed to them but I can hear the high tones on my sovereign GT much better with the new aids.

I also wear hearing aids, except I do not wear them metal detecting. If people loose rings, chains, ear rings etc, I bound to loose a hearing aid. Arizona is hot especially in the summer, 115 today. Headphones are good for about 15 minuets before sweat makes it unbearable to wear them. My solution after watching several videos with minelab's wearable speaker, was to buy a amplified speaker. I found one on ebay, it is bluetooth , or can be used with cables. My wife made a pouch from velcro, and added a D-ring. I have to turn it down half way because it will blow your ears off, I can now hear the tones.

Do they make those with waterproof speakers for us that don't dirt fish anymore just water fish nowdays. I too were hearing aids and almost lost one (1400.00 each) in the water. No longer wear them anywhere near the water.

Yes they do, the link will show a bluetooth one, but you might want to do a search for one that will plug into an accessory such as an mp3 player. then just buy a 1/4 inch cord with 1/8 inch adapter.
The VA bought mine (hearing aids) they would fall out every time I removed my hearing protection.
