We didnt find anything worth keepin, except for a wagon wheel hub, on top of the ground, in good shape.
But I left that , just because I figure thats where it belongs,
We found the old burned down schoolhouse, with old stoveparts layin all over, and the remnants of a basement.
( I did find a .17 caliber bullet. At 6 inches , in Prosp mode)
We hunted 2 old time huntin camps, and i was impressed,,,pretty clean.
We hunted for where a feller said he lost his pistol, snowmobiling.
no luck
Then we tried to find the stage stop,,couldnt really find it so to speak, but found 2 dump holes, so we were close.
All in all, it was a great day.
he showed me fences he built in 1969, he told me all sorts of stories from his 40 years out there.
But the best,,, was, I told the kids they better hang around and HELP theyre Grandpa.
(They tend to hang on Grandma )
I explained to them that, he is gettin old, and so are they, and soon there wont be days availiable to get out and spend time with him.
( Sure was neat)
Its really open country, and i'd wander off a ways, and to see them runnin and goofin and following theyre Grandpa was ,,
Well, Ive never seen them all like that ,,,So that was worth more to me than a Gold ring.. Good Stuff.
Oh , and we had to stop and help sort some heifers ,that he had to Brand Inspect.
And as we were leavin, he says, Hes going to get a detector.
So thats what he's gettin for CHRISTMAS, I guarantee:biggrin:
Thanks for bein here you all, sure is nice to reflect on the days hunt, even if the treasures werent material.
Good luck to you all.
Dusty

You can't beat a day like that.....

Now that's a day to brag about Dusty. Days like that are few and far between and are the most memorable ones. There's days when Larry and I don't find much and we usually always say, "We had fun trying". Thanks so much for sharing your outing with us. Keep up the good detecting! HH, Nancy

Well not every hunt is full of great finds but any day out is a good day especially if you can share it with loved ones . Thats why they call it dirt fishing if they were all full of good finds it would soon get old no mystery to it . I have alot of slow days but still enjoy being out for a day .

Nice story Dusty. That's the one benefit of getting older...you realize most real treasures aren't material.

Great day out and quality time spent. This sport is an excuse for developing character and relationships. Marty
