Bought a 3030, after reading all the posts the reason for buying was...?
It's resale value.
I will give it a fair trial but most of my sites are under crop, and any grassland has cattle on it.
Will let you know how l get on.

Well that's a different reason to buy one. Good luck with that. What's the next detector on the list to partially learn?

Guess thats what comes of being a "free spirit"

Is it faster than the Deus ? No!

Deeper than the Etrac? No!

Lighter than an Explorer? No!

Still reading?

All of the above have been "endorsed" on this forum, but l am prepared to give it a go. After assembly l found it very well balanced and actually feels lighter than my Explorers.

A bit dissapointed with the very thin coil mounting lugs, the sound quality through the wireless system with the Koss headphones supplied is poor.

And as regards the personal attack "partially learn" how difficult can it be if l follow all the advice from the "Gurus" on here.

Will keep you posted.

I love the balance, as well...

Haven't noticed the coil ears being too thin, but I'll have to take a closer look this afternoon.
In any case I haven't damaged any of 5 coils on two machines over a period of several years.
(Admittedly, I don't try to knock down trees with the coils, so I may not be a good judge...)

In all honesty, I've to two sets of Koss headphones still in the original bags, so I can't compare...but I will say I hear a lot of quality difference between different makes and models of headphones.

Look forward to your impressions.

BTW, what part of the country (ie 'what kind of dirt') are you in?

hh,
mike

Well you do make a splash. Lol

I had mine since the week they came out and still learning. Only wish I was learning the new software upgrades that were marketed!!! :-(

I would recommend the Handbook . It will fill in what vidios on youtube.com don't explain.
The machine really isn't that complicated to operate. To learn all t he little trick might take a while.

I'm still using the stock koss headphones hmmm, wonder what im I'm missing, not sure which other headphones would be better!?

The stock phone work fine. The problems they have is they are cheaply made. Some work fine for a long time, some die very quickly. They don't have good quality speakers, and their ear pads are pretty crappy. Buying other phones basically gives you better form, fit, function and longevity but those also come with a price tag.

Only had 2 sessions on beach at moment, been using stock/preset beach mode, option/disc 2 as regards discrim so it is virtually wide open. I've noticed that when l get the red discrim cursor in the bottom right hand corner l can get different tones, usually high tone but sometimes low. All low tones have been dug and all are iron. Not much good for someone who hunts by sound only. Any ideas?

Yes I have an idea ,though I don't hunt beaches. For right now don't run it virtually wide open. Use pattern 1. It's a pattern for a reason. Someone has taken an enormous amount of time to determine what targets are found on the beach that are generally of value and developed a pattern from those determinations. You bought this machine for a reason, don't attempt to out think it right off the bat. Use M2 P1....report back with your findings.
