Finally found an old coin, its a wheatie, 1958. Found in a park that the most I've found up tell now has been a single zinc, today I found a clad quater, zinc, and wheatie. About time I get an old coin. :)

HH!

Good one. I like to find wheat cents. They are a barometer for aging a site and a good indicator for a site having other old coins. Good luck in the days ahead. HH jim tn

Sadly its not really an indicator, it was in the tot lot which has a good 5 inches of ceder chips, and the wheatie was 3 inches down. So someone dropped it. But still nice to find an older coin.

Yes Wheat backs are cool, really, and as many note, where there are wheaties, there could be silver! That wheatie could of came up from below , or been kicked in from the side, or peeled off a side wall, really. Good Luck.

Yep wheats are cool,I dug up 20 or so before I finaly hit silver!! They also will keep me at a spot much longer then if I am just finding clad..hh rick in mi

I know how you feel. I have found more silver coins in my change and other peoples ashtrays than I have in the ground.
Went to see my son In Colorado last April and hunted the park there over three days.
Found a V nickel in his ashtray on the way to the airport.

Still looking for that wheatie.
