WELL IT LOOKS LIKE I AM GOING TO GET WET

I was in Texas when hurricane Camille wiped out Mississippi. My next stop was at Biloxi, MS but was delayed 2 weeks before we could even go there from San Antonio, TX. I was in the Air Force and finishing up basic training when Hurricane Camille struck. Though we were in south Texas we went from 100+ degree cloudless skies to suddenly trying to run knee deep in water towards our barracks to close the windows that we had left open.

The trip to Biloxi two weeks later was scary. The highways were torn up and the left lane was about a foot higher than the lane we were in going towards the base (Keesler AFB).

I was told that there used to be buildings all along the beach for many miles before Hurrican Camille. After the hurricane there was NOTHING on the beach - it had been wipped clean. I was told of someone who thought they could ride out the hurricane and get some great pics by tying himself to a railroad tressel(bridge).
The tressel was no longer there after the hurricane.

I am guessing a lot of people in other states will get some kind of residual affect from Katrina. Keep asking myself why anyone would want to live where there are hurricanes. Will never figure that one out.

Actually hoping you were talking about just going to take a shower

Keep safe whatever or where ever you are Henry.

HURRICANE KATRINA IS PREDICATED TO HIT NEW ORLEANS & GO NORTH FROM THERE..I WAS A LINEMAN ELECTRICIAN IN 1965 WHEN HURRICANE BETSY HIT NEW ORLEANS..THE DAMAGE HAS TO BE SEEN TO BE BELIEVED.. THERE IS A LOT MORE PEOPLE LIVING DOWN THERE NOW THAN BACK THEN..A LOT OF THE PEOPLE DON'T BELIEVE ANY THING IS GOING TO HAPPEN..IF ONLY JUST SOME OF THESE FOLKS COULD HAVE BEEN WITH US WHEN WE FOUND THE PEOPLE WHO HAD DROWN..YOU WOULD NOT SEE ALL THOSE PEOPLE "ON TV" GOING TO THE SUPER DOME.
FOR A CHANGE, I HAVE ALMOST MY WHOLE FAMILY HOME WITH ME.ONE SON IS ON A TUG BOAT, ON THE MISS. RIVER ABOVE VICKSBURG ,GOING NORTH. WE WILL BE HOLDING PRAYER FOR THOSE IN THE PATH OF THE STORM.. I AM REQUESTING FOR YOU GUYS TO SAY A PRAYER FOR ALL OF US..
GOD BLESS..HENRY

Even we in MO might get some rain off the hurricane, depending on which direction it heads as it goes North...if NW, we'll probably get rain, if NE, we most likely wont! Jesus is our Protector, our Provider and our All in all!

God Bless!
Betty
