Spent 2 nights in Vancouver and then went on the cruise for 7 days. What a vacation! The weather was unbelievable! We were truly blessed, not one day of rain! That really is unusual because the areas we visited are in a temperate rain forest. One of the guides in Ketchikan said they get about 28 sunnys days a year and we had #22 (they measure their rainfall in FEET, not inches) On top of that, the temps were in the 70's and 80's for the most part but it actually hit 90 in Juneau. Average temps for instance are 30's and 40's in the winter and 50's and 60's in the summer. We caught the heat wave
Hubbard glacier was just one of the highlights of the trip for me. I don't think I've ever seen anything more beautiful. The Capt. was able to get really close to it. The sound of the huge pieces cracking and falling into the bay was incredible. The scenery on the entire trip was just awesome; a real wonder to behold. We got to see Humpback whales (one baby came completely out of the water, a full breech, right in front of us!), grey whales, Orcas, seals, sea lions, sea otters and about a dozen or so Bald Eagles. Wow!
I'm sure I'll have plenty of pics to show everyone!
Close to 550 new posts since I left, so I doubt I'll have a chance to catch up.
All in all, it's great to be back... missed all of you!
Oh, went out for 2 hours this morning... Got what I thought was a thick 18K chain with a gold locket on it but I didn't see the "GF" after the 18K, bummer Did manage a .925 chain with a Jewish "Chai" symbol and a Mezuzah on it. About a dozen or so people workin' the beach this morning and they all missed them Both targets sounded real bad, worse than "iffy", but I dug them anyway...
Almost forgot, I ran into Kathy too... I asked her about her father and she said he's doing much better after having a rough battle with cancer last year.
Take care!
