Couldn't take it anymore, had to grab the F70 and go. The wind chill came up from 7 to 10 F and there was a slight skiff of snow on the ground, with more falling from the sky. I did not bag the 11" coil but should have as it balled up with snow and got heavy. Lake is icing up...
I got permission to hunt a lakefront Catholic Retreat home that is closed and for sale after 60 years...they figure there has been @100,000 people out here retreating from something...evidently, all 100,000 of them took a vow of poverty since I found only one coin and it was a 70's something Q...I found a rotten potmetal crucifix medallion, a few old shotgun shells, and all the signs that said there should be some old silver, lots of iron nails, junk etc...dont know how come it was so coin poor with that many folks allegedly attending...even went into the water for nothing but old paper lowbase shotgun shells, good sign for old silver, but not a peep...danged old priest crept up on me while I was detecting in the howling wind, up around the base of big old oaks..he was wearing sandals! musta been a Jesuit?. Frost is down 1" in the clear, but easy stabbing in the cover or thick sod.
I went over to the local high school and swept up a few more Q's, a couple of N's and a few P's...no big stellar day or finds, still fun though, cant find anything sitting around in the house, I'll take one more GOLD for the year...I tried to take a picture or two outdoors stabbing deep sod targets through the snow, but my phone evidently froze up too on account I could not get it to operate...just a white apple was on the screen...
Anybody find anything worth a tinkers cuss this weekend? This arctic cold really came down fast this year.
