Well here I go again, I have just made a deal to buy a T2 from Jeff...I am a relic hunter...anything I should know????

Dean

Dean

I hunted with a Nauty for 15 years...my first machine since then.

I suspect you're going to like the T2! You bought from a good guy(Jeff) and I believe you got the best machine out there currently! So be confident in your purchase! I recently got mine-don't have alot of time behind it yet-but so far I like what I see and hear!! Weather and work have kept me from doing much yet, but I did make it to the old gradeschool near me for an hour or two. I discovered a huge old sprinkler system covering the lot! haha A few newer coins of no value-alot of cans and bottle caps-and here's the part that got me going....it is finding stuff so deep I haven't had the nerve to dig them up! I got down to a foot deep on several targets and never got to whatever was making the T2 sound off. Those were small items too-not huge targets according to the pinpointing function. You can tell the size easily with the pinpointing. I need alot more time off work and some sunshine!!I also need a bunch more experience using it, but so far I think I made the right choice with this detector compared to other detectors I own. I like the set-up, lay-out, weight, and thought behind the T2. I trust what it is telling me more than others and I like the WAY it informs me.We'll be learning at the same time-please keep us informed of your experiences with it-and maybe some guys with more experience will comment with some tips for you(and me)-I haven't done any relic hunting with it yet.Enjoy! John

hi there, I also have had mine a short time, and it does take time to understand what is going on. Play with the sensitivity. I think the default is up to 60, which (depending on where you are) makes the machine chatter. I put mine down to 40. Read the book, experiment, read the book again, go experiment again.

I will say this; if it says you have 25cents, thats what you have. if it says you have a nickel, you do. most of the time a Pulltab is definitely distingquished.

As far as relics, iron is the reading you need to heed. Remember where you are - if you are in the woods there shouldnt be anything out there that's metal, so if you get a reading, investigate.
good luck!
