well i just bought a new cz21 and i am selling my infinium. any tips on how to use it and what do you think of the machine.. any idea on deph ty hope to see all your posts soon.

What size coil on it? 8 inch coil gets decent depth, 10.5 would be preferable. I'm guessing you're gonna be in the water or on the beach. Fresh water?
Ocean, lake, river or stream work in mind?

hi yes it has the 8 inch coil and i am going to be using it for water detecting in lakes and scuba diving. i am sorry i have not responded but have been working. ty.

Read the manual and follow it to get set up.

For water, I like the 8 inch coil. I think the thick coil spider design gives too much water drag and the 10.5 inch is worse than the 8 inch by a good bit ... but I'm not as young as I used to be and not as physically conditioned either.

In discriminate mode, I'd recommend not going any higher than the 0 discrimination setting so you can listen to all tones. Listening to all three tones helps a lot in identifying iron. Iron can go high tone. Over wet sand slow the sweep down. Sweep speed is not as much of an issue when swinging in the water since it is hard to swing fast in the water; but try slowing anyway. If iron goes high tone, slow the sweep down and it frequently stays low tone.

Targets that bounce low tone to mid-tone, dig! Some low to high tone bounces don't stay low tone when the sweep is slowed down, they still bounce. That would be about the only time I'd use the pinpointed to size it. If it is big and bouncing low to high tone, I may write it off as a big piece of iron; but If in doubt, dig it.
Enjoy your new CZ.
Cheers,
tvr

Yep, what TVR said! I've had trouble with mine in the water at one place, North Avenue Beach, Chicago, where it seems every target in the water stays in the foil range. The exception being targets above the sand bottom. Other than that, it's a killer on small targets. Learn to pin point, more importantly, learn to size your target using the pinpoint feature if you're not a digg-it-all detecotrist.

Once you get comfortable listening to targets, it's easier to determine size and orientation using PP.
