Well I did it & changed the .tif to .png & was able--

to post the photo of my mother & me as a baby--1935--This was taken at my grandmother's farm in the field that dad & mom cleared by cutting trees down so they could plant & grow food & etc. Those times were tough, as they had just come through the 1929 stock market crash & depression, they & grandma were as poor as church mice& so they caught fish out of the West Fork of the Black River below where they lived & took them to town & traded for flour, lard & other items!

When I was about a year or so old, I was sitting in a small boat pulled by dad & mom was behind hog fishing, she looked up about the time I stepped out of the boat & hollered, dad turned, pulled me out of the water as I was going down! He said, I sniffed a couple of times & didn't even cry--guess it happened so fast, but God must have been with me as I am here to talk about it! PTL :clapping: Ma

YEP, Them were hard times ,there was no Welfare or free money like they have now,no free cell-phones that Obomo gave out:blink:People had to make do in many ways that would make people sick this days.People did not have two nickles to rub together:surrender:It was hard work that brought them through this rough times.God bless us all:thumbup:

Yes--Terrible times & had to survive by hard work! Dad tried to find work but no jobs available--Hardships lasted a long time & we left grandma's place & rented a room 3rd floor up over stores in a small town--I was 3 & my bro was 1-1/2! There were pretty dolls in the store window but all a very skinny Santa on a fire engine brought was a used tricycle for Everett (I called him Bubber instead of brother) which he happily rode in the apartment--we helped mom string Popcorn (what we didn't eat) to decorate the tree dad cut down from the woods! No present for me; so guess I was bad & seemed I was for years, as gifts never seemed to be there in our living place & even when we lived on the farm after 1941;

Not like today with presents piled high under the tree--even my children had it so much better with less work to do than on the farm--But made us good workers & able to work and keep our jobs after school days were over! Dad & mom didn't have much in material wealth but owned the farm & we worked hard on it while dad had jobs in St. Louis, Mo & worked away from home to make ends meet! The photos of those kids at the table & dressed in poor clothes were Bub & I most of the time as we grew up & I always seemed to need my bangs cut in the pics that were taken which were few! They were called, Rag-a-Muffins! :shocked: :shrug: Ma

First of all, Ma, that is such a precious photo of you and your mother! It's such a blessing that you have that to look back on. I'm sure it brings back lots of fond memories of her.

Second, C. J. M., that pic that has the sign with children for sale, that is truly heart wrenching. This shows how blessed I have been. Did they really do that? Sell their children? I've heard of people giving their kids up for adoption back in the day. My grandmother and her siblings were put in a children's home for a spell because her parents were so poor.

Thank you & having our photo together is a blessing for remembering my mom! Yes, Sis digger, they had to sell their children because they couldn't feed them--What is really SAD & truly bad is there were DRS & PPL who stole babies & small children to sell to those who wanted them & could afford them or just used the older children like slaves on their farms! I am so glad my brother & I didn't end up sold or sent to orphanages or became slaves without pay by unloving farm owners!

We have many things to thank God for in this life from the time of our birth until our mortality ends & if truly saved by believing faith in Jesus & our repenting of our sins at the age we learn & know we need a Savior to have a Heavenly Home when these bodies die & receive new ones when we are caught up into the air with Jesus & enter God's glory land with Him--I am, so thankful that He is my Lord & Savior! Amen! Sis Ma Betty

Thanks Mike--have more that have to have the file changed & many more in albums that are probably boxed & in storage--like most of the poems I wrote & haven't typed! Well Ma is slow & that's the truth! :sad:
