Well gentleman I couldn't help myself.

I love my CZ's. They are deep and the 5" coil is deep, in our soil 9" coins are not a problem.
Good luck with yours.

BJ,I have owned a few CZs.In most parks they are one of my favorite units.I agree they are built very well, good quality and performance. Thanks

Tough to add much to the previous posts, but I have a CZ6A that probably is in the best of shape of any on the planet and is one of the hot ones that go even deeper than most CZ's..Many prefer the digital versions but I will take a analog one myself. Tough to beat old technology or not...

Hey Ron,

The CZs are great units and its to bad First Texas isnt expanding on them. If someone made a couple of DD coils for it I would still have one. I dont care for concentric coils for my hunting which is mostly beach hunting, one of the reasons I am a big Sov/Explorer fan. The CZ works ok in the wet sand but at depth your really not covering much area at all. DD coils would improve that and would also help in high trash areas.

Best of luck with it,
Neil

From what Tom D. posted on his forum, the CZ's can not use a DD coil, so you will never see a DD coil for the CZ....HH...BJ

Received the CZ5 today needs a little TLC. I hope to keep this on for a while miss not having a CZ in my arsenal. Easy air test not maxed out two way hit high tone penny 12 1/2 inches, clad dime 12 1/4 inches and clad quarter 13 1/4 inches.

Dan,

I have a 6a ( bought it new in mid 90's) too, and it may be another 'hot' one. In most cases, I cannot run the sensitivity past 4. Also, when I get deep hits ( 9-10 inches) that go back and forth between iron and coin, I always dig them. Lots of times they are deep wheaties or silver coins.

Does your CZ start to false more when the sens is pushed past 4 or 5, and do you find that some deep iron/high coin signals end up as good targets ?

Thanks,

JC

Thanks BJ. I went over to his site and saw the post your referring to. What a shame.

Any chance youve tried the F75 yet?

If so how would you compare it to the CZ?

Thanks,
Neil

If you haven't read all of Tom Dankoski's stuff. You should. Check out his web site. Out of all the cz's I have owned, detecting with no discrimination and listening to the tones workks the best in iron infested areas.Best of luck.

We must remember a CZ6A was an older CZ even if you have one of the last ones made so should not have the sens. parrameters of a newer CZ such as the CZ3D so at least in my neck of the woods setting it at 6-7-8 is quite common with no problems while a CZ3D will false if you try to get it much over 4 sens. wise. I would guess your unit needs recalibration or you have some darn bad ground.
A problem with CZ's they all went after real deep rusty nails and registered in high coin or jumped from iron to high coin. I would suggest you Google Mikes CZ page and bookmark it as it has some good reading to help you recognize a nail from a deep coin.
Afer all thes years of hunting with a CZ dig very few nails as you will learn there are ways to avoid them, but have to admit now and then do dig one going after an extremely deep hit. Every learned CZ user knows they are depth demons and will go as deep or deeper than anything on the market coil for coil so good luck with your unit and if a clubmember or friend has a similiar unit see how high he can run his sens. and if he can go as high as 6-7-8 time for a tuneup and have to admit 9 or 10 is pretty tough in any ground I ever hunted..Naturally if he can run higher than yours I feel it needs a tuneup as something is out of whack and may be hurting your depth as even analog CZ's go down now and then but have to admit after using this old technology for 15 years have had little or no problems with the analog CZ's I owned...Nope never used a F-75 and don't plan to as why fix what aint broke..

I guess I'm just going to have to stick with them. I seem to dig so much more junk with any other machine I've used in comparison and I can hunt a site so much faster. I know iron masking with CZ's does cause some missed good ones but I guess I'm starting to not care...as long as I'm having fun :)

I did send my 6a in about 5-6 years ago for a 'tune up' so it's good to know that they possibly did the same thing for yours. I don't know what they did, but most of the time ( and always on the beach ) I can't run more than 4-5 on sens in discrim mode.

I am NOT complaining. I usually don't fiddle much with the sens, and run the machine stable regardless. I do see that when I put on the 5 inch coil, I can up the sens to 5-6 or so, so I beleive the machine is just fine n dandy. Also, I do notice that ground balancing is very important, and I re-ground whenever I start to false.

Indeed proper ground balance will give you added depth and stability..Depending on conditions on wet salt sand beaches may have to lower sens. for stability...Remember learn the bobbing method and once perfected a few bobs and your good to go...
Under most conditions in my neck of the woods 4-5-6-7-8 sens. is possible but 9 or 10 is unusual....and probably deepest CZ I ever had and have used ever model of CZ ever made...guess I have a real hot one as it never has seen Fisher Tech's....

Try your auto tune mode at the beach maxed out. You will really be surprised. Crank it up till you get the threshold audio. That will usually be 8+ on your sen. Be prepared to dig some really deep targets. You won't belive how deep you will dig. :D: :D:  . HH Jerry aka Tinfoil

'Cause right now I have my doubts about sending them a broken can opener, let alone one of my Los Banos CZ's.

So they should be able to crank them up. My CZ20, CZ70, CZ6A, CZ3D are all way deeper then they were when I first got them. I need every inch I can get down here as if you arn't digging 8+"s you might as well go home. If they tell you they can't do it then all the old tech's are gone. I don't have any gripe with FT as they have treated me great. Even if it did take me three F75's to get a good one. Third one is a Excellent machine. I have already paid for it twice with the diamond rings I got with it. Not to mention the silver and good stuff with it. You can bet if I was not satisified with FT or the F75 I don't mind saying it. Mater of fact I was just talking to Mike Scott this morning and he was telling me about the new improvements and updates to the F75 that they have made and going to make. :D: :D: HH Bud, Jerry aka Tinfoil
