Well, decided on the F75...

Was looking at the T2,MXT and the F75. Decided on the F75 even though it was a little out of my budget.(Oh well it's only money) I am somewhat of a experienced detectorist. Use an Explorer II and usually run wide open. So the noise shouldn't be to much of an issue, but would like a few tips to help shorten the learning curve a bit. should I stick with facory pre sets for a while? I am sure this question has been asked before but I hope you all wouldn't mind saying it again!

Rob, I look forward to your opinion on the F75. I had one of the first T2's that was updated and it was a hot detector. It is always nice to have someone who can directly compare two very good detectors. Keep everyone informed on what you think. R.L.

I will post my honest opinion of it. I just hope it performs the way I have heard that they do. I have tried more than a few detectors before and always try to give them enough field time before passing my judgment on them.

Robo,

I'm a long time Explorer XS user. Also hunt wide open. I've had a F-75 for 3 days now. Little too early to tell yet, but initial opinion is that it's not going to find alot that was missed with the explorer. Tomorrow I may head to some places out in the country that I've pounded with the explorer where I can kick the sensitivity up on the F-75.

I've got a pile o' questions to ask myself.

I found a site where I am getting relics from 1800s that is only 4 miles from my house. It is old papermill site where they stripped off buttons, buckles and fasteners off old clothes to make paper. The good items are many but they are in heavy iron from the old building. Had an SE but it went silent after the first 150 pieces. Got 75 and it was amazing what I missed with the slow response SE. I sold SE as it would just collect dust now. Learned how to use it in heavy iron from Tom Danskowski detecting forum. Sens worked up to 99, disc 6 de or pfmode and MONOTONE. Dig and repeatable signals when in heavy iron.
