When Bryce posted all his find for year 2008 i was in AWE!!! as well as many others,, The man really really knows how to use his Explorer :detecting: He talked really highly of the SEF coil, and the success it brought him... After seeing all the pics of his finds i had to have one!!!! Knowing in reality that having that coil wasn't going to put the coins right out in front of me "but i could hope" lol ,,, i would have to do my part, which was go slow and listen... Well to today i found my first Seated Dime :yo: 1887s ,, It is cold in Indiana,,, with about 3 inches of snow on the ground  But that wasn't going to stop me,,, I grabbed the SE along with the brick hammer and headed to the woods at a local park... After hunting for 2 1/2 hours and not finding a single coin,,, just pop tops... i headed to another area,, and was working up a small slope.. There was a lot of iron in the ground,, up in front of me was a old hollow tree stump that was HUGE!!!!! i started working around the side of it "fighting through the null" when i came around to the back end,,, the Explorer rang a sweet sound, showing about 8-9 inches,,, After scraping 5 inches of leaves off the ground i dug down about another four inches and saw SILVER :hot: i got excited threw off my mitten's and was STOKED to see the SEATED LADY on the front  I have only been detecting for around a year, so this made me pretty happy!!! The 1887s in my second piece of silver for the year,,, I cant wait to see what the rest of 2009 bring for me,, as well as every one else,, I really like the SEF coil,,, It has a little more weight than the pro coil,,, especially when the snow builds up on it,,, but it separates really good... Thanks Bryce for sharing all your finds and the info about them!!!! Thanks for looking and good luck everyone!!!!

Looks in nice shape considering it's over a hundred years old. Congrats. I am going to get me a 12x10 SEF somewhere in the near future.

Bryce,is the main reason I switched to the Explorer. He should get a commission from all the sales he's creating.I know just watching his post it sure helped me have confidence in the Explorer and some of the equipment, if its there you have a good chance to find it.Congratulations on the seated.I'm sure you will find more.By the way I have to get one of those SEF coils.

Congrats on the your first seated dime! After trying the SEF on my DFX I knew I had to have it for my Explorer! You just can't beat the performance, depth and seperation.

Nice find Darrell! And good for you on getting out in the cold weather to battle the frozen turf! I rarely post over here usually on another forum... were are you from?

Well i went back out after i posted the seatd dime, warmed up and got some food... I went to the same woods that i was in early today... i came up on a down tree laying over a creek,,, i stared down the bank ,, and got a sweet signal,,, i kicked the leaved back and a inch under the dirt i pulled a 41 Washington quarter :surprised: I couldn't believe how shallow it was,,, i came back up the bank and around the roots of the tree and got a deep nickel signal... I kicked the leaves back and pulled this 1902 V Nickel around 9 inches deep... The sound was nice and crisp... There was NO mistaking it!!! hunted about another hour and pulled the final coin of the night , a 1935 wheatie... YAY :clapping: lol The SEF coil is still pushing out the goodies today,, I had some sweet pics of the coins strait out of the ground with my camera phone " like i had with the seated,,, But for some reason it's not wanting to send them to my email :veryangry: if it finally does ill post them... Thanks for looking Guys and Gals :) and good luck!!!

Hey Neal,,, Yeah im on the south east side of Indiana.. about 5 miles from Ohio.. I'ts not to bad when you get in the woods ,, I froze early... Man 14 inches of snow would suck lol we got around 3-4 but it was 6 below yesterday... Hunting the woods is ok... you jsut have to hunt A LOT lol

Thanks Kings
Like i told Ron i orderd mine early in the week from Kellyco... They had like 3 left... They are nice!!!!!!! Yeha the dime is pretty but i put some light scratches on the back washing the dirt off :rage: Good luck if you get out and do some hunting!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks again Derrell

We got about another 6" of snow along with the ice that was frozen solid from a little deep cold spell we had beneath that. Derrell is probably the only maniac out there swinging but from the finds it's paid off.

Hey Elton
To tell you the truth, today was only me second day with the SEF coil,.,. So i really cant make an accurate judgement,,, and sense the ground is frozen solid in the open,,, i haven't got to really test it at any sites that i know for a fact are DEEP coins,,,, The thing i definitely notices right away was the weight difference... It took my are a little while to get acquired to the feel... but the SEF coil does feel really good,, and i have noticed that it separates great,,, The wheatie i showed was in iron, and it sounded great... But I LOVE the Pro coil also... I used it for about 6 months and i have had some great success with it,,, I pulled a barber dime out of a whole with 5 nails at 12 inches,,,, The hole was so big and deep that i could fit the whole coil in the hole and move it around lol I found deep barber quarters at some really hard hunted parks with the pro coil... So at the moment i really like them both,, But I'm definitely not getting rid of the Pro coil just yet lol When the ground thaws i and i get a chance to roam around with it some more i will def write you and tell you what i think,,, If you cant decide just purchase them both!!! They are worth the money!!!! Good luck Elton and thanks!!!
