Just got my Fisher Edge this week and almost ready to go out and play. Just need a good small shovel, already have a probe. I haven't played in the dirt for years. Maybe in the dirt I will find more than pull tabs, shotgun shell bottoms and bottle tops.

It came with an 8" coil and I would love to find a 10.5 for it. if anybody sees one please IM me .

Glad to be on another forum. Usually I am found in Beach and Scuba, Friends and Finds, Christian, Fisher CZ and Metal Detecting. Hope to find some interesting items to post here. If not at least I get more exercise!!!

Good Luck to all.

Thinking of doing some bleacher diving? Its almost like scuba, target rich environment that is, low viz, crawling around on your hands and knees, plenty of things to bang your head on, etc. I think you should try to master it. And since your a Michigander, all the 10c empty cans add up, you will need to carry a plastic shopping bag for that treasure, and it will most likely pay for your detector in a few weekends. Do a quick sweep for freshies near the concession stands, then, crawl under the bleachers and find the loudest and most trashed up place and have at it! Plenty 'o gold there matey! Keep an eye out for bills too..really quite fun and seldom hit due to all the extenuating circumstances. Get yourself one of those Underarmour beanies for a hat, if you wear any hat with a bill on it, you are guaranteed to knock yer noggin and let out a cuss! :rofl:Clad stabbing with a screwdriver is the way to really rack up the clad on the sprots fields. Good luck on your endeavor!

Enjoy the Edge, give yourself lots of time to get used to the tones and what it is telling you.
The beach is a goood place to practice, you can quickly locate and scoop targets without bending down.
Believe me hunt a sports field, park, playground, you'll be bending down alot to dig, you may just feel it
in your legs and bum the next day.

Great machine for the price.
I have the 10 1/2" coil, just haven't tried it yet. I currently use the 5.75" coil the most. On the beach will go to the 8".

Now that was a funny post!!!! BUT, I find tons of cans and bottles underwater, especially after what they call a raft off here. I pick all of them up and put them in my dive float. Then take them home and put them on the curb for less fortunate people along with all my metal trash EXCEPT lead and brass.

I don't mind bending down. I am NOT looking for clad!! The day I got my Edge, one of my friends called me and was down the street from where I work. They are putting in new sewers in this town and he just dug up a 1876 seated quarter!! The brat!! Lots of beaches here but they get hammered by others, that's why I dive.

Hopefully this machine is deep enough to help me find some old history here.

Thank you for the replies!!! Good luck to all.

I bought the Edge two years ago and in the beginning I didn't like it and put it up for sale. It didn't sell right away and decided to give it another try. Glad I did. I learned to rely on the tones mostly then use the numbers as a secondary indicator. The 36 numbers are more sensitive than the 4 tones and so the numbers bounce around quite a bit at times. While I was giving the Edge a second try I found out how good it really is. I also have the CoinStrike. Both machines operate the same way so switching back and forth is easy. I have expensive Killer B headphones and a cheap pair too. Both pairs give me all the tone variations that the detector puts out but I use the cheaper pair mostly because they're a lot lighter weight. As with any detector it takes a while to get familiar with it so be patient in the beginning.

If you want to find Seated, you gotta look where people were SITTING, If you want to find Barbers, you gotta hunt outside barber shops, Oh sure, you can find Walkers on any old path or sidewalk tearout, thats where people were walking! Thats how I classify my clad, Walkers, Seateds, and Barbers...I sure would like to find a Standing Liberty, but outside of Montana, that would be tough, and for sure Washington DC is not the place to look for that! Good Luck!
