Well after Fisher's and White's : I finally bought a Minelab

scubadetector

New member
Always have had Fisher and White's machines. First machine was a White's Eagle SL2 Loved that machine. Next was a White's Spectrum, then a DFX after I drowned the Spectrum. Drowned the DFX and got a Fisher 1280X. Went to the CZ-20 then CZ-21 which I use now. As a backup I did get a Tesoro Tigershark with both coils. My land detetector lately was a Fisher ID Edge. It died and unknown if it could be repaired.

Anyway, Three days ago I went to Craigslist and typed in Metal Detector. A guy close posted an E-trac with a Garrett pinpointer for sale. Box, manuals. rain cover, warranty, headphones, both battery packs and charger for 500.00. I decided I couldn't resist it. Now for a new machine to learn. I will be reading this forum from top to bottom soon. Hope I made a good choice.

I hope you know that, that's not an underwater machine:twodetecting: Howdy lord of the rings, haven't seen or heard from ya in a while......... NGE 'aka' pezhead

Hey Larry Long time no see!! Yes I know it will never even see a beach. I have my CZ-21 and my Tigershark for that. This thing better do well on land though. Did pretty well this summer. No bombs or guns or anything real exciting. Always next year!!

Good luck with your new machine ! :detecting:

That was a awesome deal. If you don't like it, you're not going to get burned at all.

Looking forward to seeing the finds.

Pick up Andy Sabisch's book "The Minelab Explorer and Etrac Handbook" and read it numerous times. The Etrac is a fantastic machine and loves deep silver. People tend to over rate it's complexity.

I believe that book came with it. It is pictured on the box. I let my friend borrow it since I am painting my house. He has everything but the pinpointer. He has his own.

Learn the "Minelab wiggle" then you won't need a pinpointer.nge

Hey Scuba, you'll love that machine but get a 90 degree headphone adapter from Radio Shack, That headphone cable end WON'T ta any side pressure when you set the machine down to recover your target...

well, I tried to post some pics but for some reason this Fing forum won't accept them. I GIVE UP, just get a 90 degree connector..

How weird is this? Scubadee going to ground? :heh:

Say, I hunt with a guy over here who has one, and he wades very effectively with it, right up to the control box...pulling deep old silver and even old gold rings out of the shallows over here on the West side of the State, so you might not have to wear tanks anymore, just waders!....besides, a guy could not pass up that price...that thing looks brand new!

Someone on the modifications forum modded his SE Pro (I think) into a waterproof machine. Go check it out.....nge
