I got a call last night from my friends, Chris Beniston & Tom Smith, who are once again in New England. For any new readers of these

I've heard of their exploits, and they sound like people to follow and learn from. Are these the same ones that would fly to the mid-west for the weekend/rent a car and then head out detecting at night?

into the New England area. Maybe this is #3 or #4, I don't recall. On the first one Chris bought a used mini-van so they could travel around on their detecting jaunts. Chris and others have also flown into Colorado and traveled around there and NE, KS, ?? and a couple of other places.

As for them being "Masters," I think it would be better to simply say they are avid silver shooters, patient hunters, devoted to mastering the audio responses, and they follow certain techniques to accomplish their silver shooting goals.

Chris started with an XLT about 11 years ago, and Tom, when I fort met him about 8 or 9 years ago, had a Wilson ATD, went to an XLT, then in late 2000 or Spring of 2001 they went to the Minelab Explorer XS. Later to the Explorer II, and Chris currently uses an Explorer SE.

Often they use the standard 10

But the patience and location planks are the ones that are sorely lacking for me. The two of them(chris and tom) seem to have worked at getting all three of those down well, and if you have the results that you are looking for, that makes them masters in my book!

You can also see by this E-mail I got from Tom on Friday that they are not cleaning out all those sites in the North Eastern US. Here's a cut-and-paste of Tom's quick note:

I attached a picture of the 4 Reale coin that I found, thought you would like to see.
Have not found much since we talked last. Right after we got off the phone with you we went into a green that produced 3 Indian heads and an 1864 2 Cent for Chris and 1 Indian head and an 1785 Nova Constellatio Copper. Yesterday Chris got an 1807 and 1809 Large Cents and about 8 Indian Head Pennies and I got a 1964 Rosie and an 1875 Seated Dime with 3 Indian Heads. Today has been very slow, right now Chris is getting a new starter in the Wonder Van and I'm doing laundry. Talk to you soon.

Tom

PS: Still no calls from Tesoro users. :(
