welcome to.... BUCKLE CITY

hello all, i thought i would put somewhat of a new twist on things by showing you part of my found buckle collection. first off, the south carolina oval in the center is not real, its a repro. its my home state,i bought it for twenty bucks knowing it was a repro. just had to have it! the iron buckles pictured are both for draft animals and people. theres also a strong association between iron buckles and confederate soldiers. all of the pictured brass buckles have a strong confederate provenace as well, except the buckle above the south carolina plate, its a turn of the century us naval buckle, complete with a little anchor on the reverse. the two small, almost matching buckles are suspender buckles.the details on them are really neat. all of the pictured buckles, save for two, are battlefield and campsite recoveries. so, i hope you enjoy the pic, there sure is a lot of time, research, and digging involved in this pic. i keep promising myself to get the iron buckles into electrolysis and get them treated up. i will one day, hh,

Nice Buckles. I bet they read loud!!! Mine sound like coins. Not a disappointment though. I'll take a buckle or a coin. As long as it ain't a pull tab or shot gun shell.:bouncy:
