Weird Day at Beach

Prodigy

New member
:tesoro:Yesterday, I finally got enough nerve to go out into the freezing water, since the land had failed to yield results. After only fifteen minutes, in knee deep water, to my amazement I pull up a 1937 wheat penny. For those who don't know they last made wheat pennies in 1958 and replaced them with the memorial cent. The weird part is that the lake I was detecting at was not built until the 1970's. I know there have been some really old houses in the area dating back to the 1840's, but the whole idea is still hard to grasp. Any ideas to how it could've got there???

I roll all my salt water copper coins and nickles..I have rolled about 100 Indian heads this winter/spring along with buffalo nickles and some V-Nickles..I get Wheats in my pocket change all the time! so getting the 1937 is no real mystery.
