Weight Of 10.5 inch DD Coil

Another factor relative to felt weight is the placement of the mounting ears. The 10.5" mounts behind center of the coil, putting the majority of it's weight further in front. Many mount their coil backward just for the reason of better balance.HighPlainsHunter said:

Another way to lighten it is remove the cover.
With the coil mounted on your detector remove the cover and you will feel the difference. When you hold it in your hand it doesnt feel like much but on the detector with the rod extended for hunting it makes a difference.
