Weekend yard hunting

We found a lot of sweet looking places where old silver wasn't hiding at today but I can't complain. This new town is showing some obvious signs of hunting pressure at most of the obvious places but a few quaint out of the way properties continue to produce. I ended the day 9 short of a dozen rosies and with a really neat sterling locket. I didn't take a closer look at the locket until after we left. My buddy carefully opened it and revealed the gold rosary hiding neatly inside. I can't say I've seen one like this before. Please share your thoughts, thanks. JJ

Really nice finds! That locket & rosary are spectacular and must have been really treasured by the person who lost it. I wonder how old it is? Way to go & HH.

Hey JJ, Eric here. The locket appears to be 1880's, 1890's any markings on it?

Thanks for the replies. Eric, long time no see. I'm out of town for work right now but I believe the locket has no markings. I believe the rosary and crucifix is stamped WCCO in two different places. I have no doubt that the pieces would pass the nitric acid test but I won't use it on this. I'll probably take it into a jeweler to get a second opinion. Let's hunt sometime soon. JJ

JJ, I know someone who would know for sure. Let me know when you get back in town and I'll introduce you to him. This is who I have look at my finds. Can't wait to go hunt.

Sounds like a plan. I'm working a sick schedule right now so PM me your days off and address (if you moved) and I'll try to line up with you. I have two HUGE areas totaling nearly a square mile that I will need some help covering. I know you had some rediculous talent with the Sov, hope that carried over nicely to your etrac. Keep me posted. JJ

JJ, I got rid of the ETRAC and went a step up back to the ELITE. I sent the ETRAC to the factory and they said that it ran fine. I found another ETRAC user and he said that mine was bad. Got my money back from the piece of junk. The ELITE handles the trash so much better. I ran against 2 ETRAC users and well let's just say they went home with their tails between their legs.

Thanks again for the replies fellas. Steve, he's referring to the Minelab Sovereign Elite. They're an oldie but a goodie. BBS technology, no screen (except for available meter) and amazing raw power. They also have a much better sound signature in the gold category than explorers or etracs and do quite well on silver. It works great for him, I see no reason to reinvent the wheel. JJ

Outstanding hunt JJ :yo: Congrats on the great work.
