Weekend Road Trip Finds - 1889 Morgan Silver Dollar !!!

floodplaindetector

Well-known member
Very early Saturday I headed south for an overnight weekend trip with "Silver King" to detect some city parks.
The Morgan silver dollar was a strong 10 inches deep and was pure luck I hit the signal before he did. SK hit the first coin signal in the area
with 2 Indian head pennies in the same hole. A big thanks to him for helping me extract it from the hole as he had a Sunray probe and my hand held pin pointer was on its last leg.
We very surprised when there was also a 1902 barber dime in the same hole.
Morgan Dollar is 1889 0.
Barber Dimes are 1902,1907,1913. Mercs are 1917,1942. Roseys are back to 1946.
Nickels are 1897,1913,1917,1935,1940,1944.
Indian Head Pennies are 1882,1902.
Wheat Pennies are back to 1909.

SK had a very good outing also with numerous old coins including a very nice 1878 Indian head penny,1894 V, Buffs, 1906 Barber Dime and numerous other silver coins.

I still cant believe I ran into 2 Morgan dollars within a couple months.

Coils used were the stock coil and NEL Attack 15 inch.

Wow x 100! Should I show you my weekend finds? Uh... nah. That is a purty hunk of silver. And the rest of that stuff ain't to bad either. Big congrats Floodplain!

Nice Morgan! The other finds are killer also. Yet to find a Morgan, got the Peace Dollar but still on the hunt for that one congrats on getting two!

Great haul there! Silver dollars in the hole are always unexpected!!!

you guys killed it once again....congrats!!!!! Do you remember what your Morgie rang up as? Fortunately I've stumbled onto 2 (in 24yrs), first found with my beep & dig, second with the etrac and it rang up a "classic" 1-40 (or 41) and read 2" down but of course size threw off the depth and coins was about 5". Was curious what your 10" er rang up at...????? Thanx and GREAT find....!!!!!

There were a few different facets to this signal. When I first hit it, it sounded like an Indian Head Penny. I don't recall the numbers.
There was also a new shallow coin around a foot away that then needed removal as we thought that might have bled over and given me the Impression of a deep signal. After that was removed it was determined
that the signal was still there and was deep.
Then the guy I was with (runs Explorer XS) went over it and it sounded like an Indian Head. I then went over the signal and it gave me a solid 12-46 silver sound which didn't make sense to me ??
That made sense when we found out there was a 1902 barber dime in the same hole and I was locked in on that from the other direction.

LMAO!!!!! One of THOSE......lol I should have known before I asked! That's most likely the reason you sniffed it out and the herds before you missed it....you are the master! Man, I wished I had your skills and persistence! Getting awful HOT over here so my poor season may slow down even more. thanks again for the insight.............
