Weekend hunts x2

Well I went out Saturday and Sunday with the 8" loop. Saturday was at an old school and adjacent 250 year old foundation. Both have been picked over for many years but my gut tells me there is still good treasure to be found. The area is grown in and littered with tons of trash. I think the whole area was a bottle, can, and other assorted junk dump being in the back woods. Well my persistance paid off slightly Saturday. I pulled this silver ring (band) out from about 8". I think it is a core of something other than silver and coated with silver. The amazing part was it was a poor signal, bouncing all around. At about 4" there was a nice old square nail. I almost covered the hole up but experience says check before you refill. Now a better signal, dig a little more, use the Garrett pin pointer and to my amazement the ring. Near the school I checked the muddy gravel parking area and found the '48 quarter.

Sunday I went to another area with an old abandoned playground, about 50 years old. This area was all grown with tall grass this past fall and I got a '64 half dollar. This area was also the area last weekend my son got his first silver, the 43P nickel. I think there was a secret metal hiding area here because the nulling and funky tweeks from the Etrac are crazy. Well with some patience I managed to pull this childs ring out. Looked good at first but will go in the "almost" case. The 1960 quarter was literally 1/2" to 1" deep. I thought it was a newbie, so that is how I may have "bumped" it with the scoop. All in all a great day with the nice weather and the wife giving me clearance to go have fun. Gotta love it. HH

Nice finds!
