My parents came to Carolina this weekend to help the first born celebrate birthday #8. So Dad and I managed to slip off to a cellar hole for a couple of hours. Of course, I managed to get poison ivy again, but that's pretty much standard any more.
Believe it or not, this is an 1899 IH penny. The Coinstrike "NAILED" this one (pun intended) There were 2 rusty square nails in the hole with it. I think that's why it looks so bad!

The next piece is a cool little buckle I dug

As you can see from the back, this one had some shine at one time

Here is a crudely made flat button I found

And finally, this was a pleasant suprise

I wasn't expecting to find gold at the cellar hole! I poked around in the dirt looking for a stone, but all I got was poison ivy down in those fuzzy roots! No great finds this time but we had a good time!
