Weekend hunt

Larry (IL)

Well-known member
We got away for a few days and I managed a couple of land hunts and one water hunt with my CTX 3030. The CTX was flawless in the water and I found a lot of coins and one small silver earring front that had broken off of the backing. A big surprise was one wheat cent was found in the water and obviously had been there for quite a while. A lot of work for little reward but you just never know when that gold ring will be the next target to be brought back to the surface.

Land hunting was more productive with one silver dime and 28 wheats and two more IH's for my collection, both 1895. The best find of the weekend has to be a Railroad switch lock key with the Pennsylvania RR logo on it, I have yet to positively ID it. A close second in the favorites list is a two part Eagle cuff button in great condition, but the loop on the back is missing.

Other fun finds are two tokens, one is for a car wash and the other is from Hardee's and a two year safe driving badge.

Nice finds Larry, that was a lot of digging but I bet a lot of learning in the process.

Congrats

Randy

The heat took a break last weekend and it was in the mid 80's and bearable. We are back up to the mid 90's again this week and back in the air conditioning........:ranting:

 I swear, the CTX is HOT on IH's. I have found a lot over the past 30 years but never this many in one year let alone the two months with the CTX.

Nice hunt Larry and way to go on killing the wheat's my Indian count is way up I got 20 last year and i,m almost there now hows your count on the Indians. Thankx

I'm up to 17 in two months sube.

I really like that key. Do you know anything about it?

My Dad spent 40 years working on the railroad, so I am pretty sure it is railroad key, I have a few myself. It has the insignia of the Pennsylvania RR but instead of PRR inside of the insignia, it has TRAIN and that is what has me baffled until I can get a positive ID on it. All switch lock keys are worth some bucks but the rare ones are worth BIG bucks. The word train doesn't show up very well in this picture but it is there. I think I will put this on the Whatzit forum as well.

Who knew? I've been throwing keys if I find like that in the trash!! (just kidding :surprised:). I like some of your other finds better, personally, but its nice to find something that may have some value to it. That always puts a smile on your face.

Nice finds there Larry - that railroad key is pretty sweet! I've been finding a lot of Indians with the CTX as well - I'm up to 28 so far this year:super:
