Weekend hunt

Rob (IL)

New member
Well I just got back from a weekend hunt. The site has been WELL hunted. Sliver was far between and few. I can say that the V3 found as many as the competition. I was. able to run RX13, all metal 70, and sensitivity 92 all weekend. I ground balanced until the detector went quiet. This took more than a few pumps to get dead quiet. It ran soooo smooth. Finds were deep for me with a 9" and 8" wheatie my deepest. I was able to find 2 silver nickels, a handful of wheat cents, 2 pocket knives, a scout button, an old school safety badges and a scout pin. Shot gun shells were plentiful. I saw Larry dig an 8 or 10 inch deep dime and it wasn't silver. :devil

As usual I had a super time and if my coil went over a target I feel confident I found it. The V3 did not take a back seat to anyone. I couldn't be happier will the performance. I'll let Larry fill in the blanks. Rob

Rob is talking about our clubs' yearly spring hunt where most of the members makes a two or three day hunt out of the event. I have to agree with Rob that the V3's do not have a depth problem, even in our bad ground. The biggest disappointment of the weekend was an 8" clad dime recovery......:ranting:......that sounded so much like a solid silver hit. Deep wheaties were no problem either, digging many at the 6-8 inch range and the deep nickels were abundant as well. I played around a little with the settings this weekend and one of them was setting the nickel VDI's to the silver dime audio, 240. Believe me you won't miss many nickels and gold rings in the nickel range when it sounds like a silver dime under your coil.... Another thing Rob helped me with is setting the iron VDI audio to 0 Hz. That means no discrimination in the iron range, just no audio is all, you will still have the red bars on the spectagraph to give you a visual on the iron targets. The other thing was to do the same with +94 and +95, no audio, wow did that ever quiet down the V and it ran very smooth even at higher settings. At times I even had to squeeze the trigger for pinpoint to make sure it was still running OK........smooth as silk and deep, what a pleasure to hunt with.

The silver coins were few, but targets in general were plenty, scout buttons, pins, knifes, wheats, clad and the dreaded foil balls aplenty. All in all a great time had by everyone.

Do you think White's was well represented?

Nice job fellers sounds like fun for all.Larry I run a similar program 18-21 VDI with the dimes@ 245 sure do pick up the nickles.A couple of things I do though is I run a 5 on tones for all negative #s and +94-+95. Gives a ticking that I like to hear and it doesn't get as boring for me. The other is accepting everything but the Ground phase #s and 2 in both directions of it. I figure I dont need to accept the ground ,just whats in it. The only thing that I still do is dig deep square nails@ 10 plus inches. Just never know. Also using 2.5 freq.on the nails.Best data seems to help get rid of them at the loss of about 2 inches of depth. H.H. Yazoo

Thanks Mike.
