Weekend hunt!:detecting::garrett:

My wife and I headed up to Nashville early Fri morning to visit our youngest son and give him a hand with a couple of projects. Come Sat. afternoon my wife and son took pity on me and suggested I go do some detecting. As fate would have it, I had the A T along, just in case such a suggestion would occur, :biggrin: and headed off to an old park I knew and had hunted on a few times on previous trips up there. And, the urban spot didn't let me down.

Although no silver coins came along, there were enough other finds to keep the hunt interesting. Haven't tallied the clad yet, but at one point had 21 quarters in my pouch and about the same in dimes. Numerous Memorials came to light along with a few nickels and a decent amount of trash. The best, for sure find, was a nice 925 ring that weighs in at 7.8 grams with the big and 2 small stones. The Jackson silver piece looks silver, but can't find a mark and will need to test for sure. It looked good coming out of the ground. A heavy, junk, Jesus ring was discovered along with another junk ring and a YMCA pendent, to round out the jewelry. I love finding toy cars and this one has all wheels still intact. All in all, a fun and productive 2 1/2 hour hunt on a beautiful fall afternoon down here in the mid south. HH jim tn

That is a very good haul in a short time! That park has not seen a coil in a while, must not be some local guy in there working it? Congrats on a fine days performance!:clapping:
Mud

Reading your posts Jim, I can tell you can really read a hunt site. That's a dandy ring. For me funny how finds run in cycles. Toy cars have a run, sometimes keys, zippers come up often too.
Well keep on doing what you're doing.

I bet that WAS interesting! And I definitely agree with Mud, you did a lot of digging/finding in a short time.
How far away from Nashville do you live? I bet there's lots of good places there, if you could get permission.

Nashville is a couple hundred miles. Like the Memphis area, Nashville has a ton of spots to hunt, but like most everywhere few places haven't been hunted numerous times, save for those spots in bad area's and those are just bad enough that one needs Seal Team Six along. I don't think anyone hunts the Nashville spot as there is always to much clad. That silver ring is actually the 4th one I have found there and the "Jackson" bracelet piece tests silver, so 5 silver jewelry pieces from it. It does on occasion yield a silver coin, too. Know there has to be gold there as well, but it is a trash pit. Thanks guys! HH jim tn

Awesome hunt, congrats. It's been a tough year for finding time to get out, you've really got me itching to get some serious hunting in before winter. Congrats again. Artie

Well done, Jim. I agree with Artie, it's been hard to get out much this year and we don't have much snow down here in South, Ga. Just can't seem to find the time. GL & HH. It is motivational to get on the forum and see what everybody is finding. I planned trips Saturday, Sunday and this afternoon and they fell through. The best laid plans of mice and men often go astray. I'm taking Mama's car to the Ford place in the morning and I intend to take my detector and have them drop me off at a local park with some horse-shoe pits and see what's been dropped while they take care of her car. 3 more weeks of physical therapy counting this week and hope I have more time to dirt fish. I don't know how I've gained 13 pounds back, but I can sure tell it when I'm short of breath. 1st week of November they let the lake down and hope to find some good jewelry to post.

Hope when you get out you find something good. I had a business in Columbus, Ga back in the early 90's and the old fairgrounds and adjacent par 3 golf course were fine old spots. Heading over to St Simons next month. Come on over and we'll swing together. HH jim tn
