The best part of getting away for a weekend camping trip is to enjoy Mother nature and that is a great excuse to go metal detecting Hunting conditions were ideal with with a damp ground but not wet which made for not only easy digging but good depth as well. Many of the 25 wheats were found 7 to 10 inches deep and the 6 dimes were found between 6 to 8 inches. Besides finding coins, I get a kick out of digging the odd ball stuff as well, as the pictures show, including a sterling baby ring and a Civil War .58 Minnie. The Barber is a 1899-S and the large iron spike right above it was just about that far way from it in the ground but the CTX didn't have any trouble ID'ing both of them at the same time on the screen.
The last picture is one place I hunted that didn't produce very much, just three deep wheats but I thought it was a good photo op.
