Hunted saturday with my buddy Erich up north and I got a silver washington, a rosie and couple wheats, Sunday I went with a buddy into indiana and we were in a small town and saw a block long sidewalk tearout. We went slow as possible and dug every signals, got a lot of trash, but I scored this yrs first shield nickel, pretty smooth but appears to be 1867, also got a merc, 2 wheats and a button. We hit a house on the way out of town and I picked up two more rosies and a wheat. Pretty good weekend in my opinion

You always "Rock" the finds! Nice hunt!

good going.....!!!! gotta luv those tearouts.....haven't seen one in years. Went out twice (5hrs) since I got back to Podunk....2 wheaties......can't wait to get back to the BIG CITY....lmao (while rolling eyes)

keep em comming.......

Question for ya G4E (or anyone else).... I rarely chase nickels unless a perfect set of #'s and probably nothing deeper than 5" so far? If I were to chase deeper Nickels should I look for a consistant 12-13 co's, depth, and forget about fe #'s...??? Haven't really dug enough nickels to really "know" the audio yet......

Thanks.........

I chase deep low tones all the time.....DEEP nickels bounce wildly, I have dug nickels at 01-12.....07-08......12-12,13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19......basically if it is 5" or deeper I dig it, because everytime I do I am giving myself a chance for gold as well

thanks....that gives me an idea what to look for

Super finds Terry! Congratulations and thanks for the pictures.

Fantastic finds terry! I dug 1 shield nickel twenty five years ago.(no date!) :sadwalk:
Last year I dug a perfect 12-12 at 7' thinking it might be a V nickel and it ended up
being a 10K womens ring.(only gold ring I,ve found with the e-trac).

Killer finds ! :beers:

Wow! Great finds! Spot look good and old! I saw park district cut grass some place like that so I will plan to metal detecting there!
