Weekdays or weekends. Your favorite times to detect.

I work 3rd shift so once in a while I can do a couple hours of inland detecting when I get out of work at 7am.
I end up crashing, :goodnight: then the next thing I know is that the wife is calling to announce " I'll be in the driveway in three minutes with the groceries so be outside waiting":argue:
However, I like weekday detecting better.
The kids are at school and everyone else is working which results in less distraction from my threshold.
I do have Saturdays and Sundays off but many of the places I detect can have too many curious folks which once again interrupt my threshold Zen.:help:
Then the wife announces she would like to spend some time together. :surrender:
Late at night or very early AM is my time for beach detecting.
The weekdays on the inland turf It is all about evading the public so I can become at one with the Force and focus on the language of my machine.:starwars:

On a side note my wife is being driven nuts with my new machine choosing insanity.
Thank god she is cool and has no problem with buying my toys. I am a lucky detectorists when she tells me to hurry up and by a new detector and get the best I can buy so she doesn't have to hear me say " I wonder if I need to upgrade":clapping:

As a general rule i detect all day on sundays and also during the peak UK detecting season after the harvest in August till the spring i am out detecting as much as i can this could be any day during the week and also enjoy summer evenings as well, lucky i was able too retire at 50 so work does not interfere with my No1 pastime.

Fellow night-shifter here.

Weekdays AM till noon or so = detecting bliss. Just not on the days when I worked the night before.

Week days, early mornings for me. Few or no people around. Nice hassle free quiet hunting. Of course, it helps to be retired. HH jim tn

I'm with Jim, mornings. Cooler, fewer people. But I'm also retired so I can go any time and will break my own rules if necessary. :geek:

It used to be that I'd do most of my turf-hunting ("manicured/nice" turf anyhow) at night. To avoid any "connotations". And now it's gotten to where I do most of my hunting at night ANYWHERE. Just to avoid any questions. A possible exception is the wide-open beach during beach storm erosion hunting (since the times are driven by the tide cycles anyhow).

But on land, there's just too many connotations and potential lookie-lou questions, laws-that-could-be morphed, etc..... So I've developed an "out-of-sight-is-out-of-mind" attitude. If you're just hunting sandboxes and beaches, probably not an issue. But if you're going for "big-game" at older sites, you're always gonna run the risk that someone can start asking silly questions.

"whipped" ? (just kidding :punch: )

I had one of those "I WONDER IF" thoughts out loud the other evening and my wife said "Our Son" said you would not like that machine as it has a fairly steep learning curve and is heavy. She then said "I had planned on buying it for you for Christmas". I told her that there was no way that I wanted another machine from that Manufacturer at least at the present time .

During the Summer I spend the majority of my detecting time (A COUPLE DAYS A WEEK) detecting at the beach and in the winter digging in the dirt I prefer being at the beach when one hears that noise in the East. You know The "Crack of Dawn" When the temps rise above the comfortable level and the beach starts getting crowded I head for the A/C
