Wedding band find and return

silverdollar22

New member
Hello,
Went out Friday to a old farm house that dates back to the late 18Th century near by my house. I've hunted this home site three times before with glorious finds dancing through my mind only to be skunked and only to recover memorial cents from the property. I only had a few hours to burn so it was close and I just can't see why I haven't found anything good since I was informed by the owner that no one has detected it before. Well with that in mind I returned and started finding new cents again:ranting:. Then I hit that low tone on my Elite and thought Maybe!!! Nah!! and dug to see the gold glow come from my clod of dirt. It was a gold wedding band so I stuck it my pants pocket and kept swinging for alittle while longer. The inscription in the Ring Read (M. M. M. TO D. M. B. 6-23-73) To make this story shorter, I waited till the owner returned and called her to ask if I could up to her house. When I got there i ASKED HER WHAT HAPPENED IN June 23 1973. She paused and then I asked her if the initials M. M. M. TO D. M. B. meant anything to her? She looked at me and said that is her daughters anniversary. I handed her the band and she said that she couldn't believe it!!! She said her son-in-law lost the ring in 1975 while doing some work on the barn.
WHAT A GOOD FEELING!!!:wiggle: She told my son who was with me that he had a good dad and that made things even better!!! I'm sorry I never even thought of taking a picture but I don't need to It's here in my mind!!!

:clapping:Silverdollar22 your the man. Way to go.:clapping:

I hate to be the synical one but now's the time to ask her if she has any family or friends with old houses you can detect.

Great story, it's a nice feeling making someone happy. Last year in Jamaica, a newly wed couple had lost a wedding band. It was a mans platinum ring, they were both clearly upset. I offered to look for it so they showed me where they thought it might be. I was searching in 4 feet of water for 2 hours before I got a good signal.
When I went back to shore I didn't reveal my find straight away, the wife thanked me for looking and I had told her I only found some junk (I was having some fun). I said ,can you describe the ring one more time...she did so I pulled the ring out of my pocket and said "does it look anything like this?"
They both give me a big hug and I could see the tears in the wifes eye. It made my day !

It's amazing how symbolic a ring can be !!..... The significance is AMAZING !!..... It's always nice to cash in bling , but it does the heart good when you find a lost ring for someone who's heart was in it when they made the purchase for that special someone, or the look on that someone specials face when you hand it them ..... I love stories like this ....Jim

Good find.

"WHAT A GOOD FEELING!!!:wiggle: She told my son who was with me that he had a good dad and that made things even better!!! "
That's the best part of the story.....I don't know how old your son is but you showed him some great values.
Some of the things that I see some parents do with their children makes me want to puck.:puke:

First class silverdollar22, I hope I get to experience something like that one day.
