Decided to do the water walk regardless of the wind and the rain. It wasn't rough as bricks but it was plenty choppy. I couldn't take my new transparent kayak out because it was too windy so I decided to hunt my beach, AGAIN.
Found all sorts of junk, including the sailboat hardware. The gold ring I didn't pick up until 10 minutes before the hunt ended on account of darkness.
Here's the nut from my badly sanded in beach:

The 'C' Ring 9k just barely qualifies as gold:shrug:

What type of kayak u got? I got a Necky Manitou Sport. HH

Here's a stock pic from the manufacturer but it looks identical to mine. It's amazing how much you can see through the hull.

You have to be careful about scratching it but no worries about breaking it as it is made from the same plastic used to make cockpit canopies on fighter jets.

It's $2,000 new in Bermuda but everything just costs more here. I saw them reduced on the net for around $1,200 new which is what I payed for it used, 1 season. It's great for checking out the bottom for loot and for looking at the reef fish. It handles well but you have to allow time to talk about it if you are near other people because they invariably ask about it. Wear lots of sunscreen when you are out on the water as you catch a lot of UV in this baby.

The only problem I would have with a small craft like that would be the chance of a collision with another boat. They wouldn't be able to see much, just me, and maybe a small wake.

Hasn't been a problem so far. I'll let you know if I wind up in somebody's prop wash.
Boating is iffy at the best of times and I tend to be proactive about it. As a member of Power Squadron it amazes me how many uninformed people there are on the waterways these days. Courtesy, safety and good seamanship?????, these guys and gals don't have a clue. Most places are big on driver training for cars but when it comes to boating; if you can buy a boat it is just assumed that you can pilot a boat.:crazy::help:
I've still got my 42' 1959 Chris Craft Constellation up for sale if you're interested, she's sitting on the hard in Michigan for $20k.

One end is the junk beach which is now a local park but used to be the old dumpsite many years ago, that's strictly Ag and 9k - 10k Au territory. My end of the beach is the resort end, 14k to platinum, I guess if you can drop $500 plus a night for a standard room you can afford to lose the good stuff.
I may have spooked my prey though as I notice that the guests are wearing less Au into the water since I started working the hotel beach regularly. I'm thinking of getting a sign made up to wear around my neck " DON'T BE AFRAID, COME WASH YOUR GOLD IN THE OCEAN".
It doesn't much matter at the moment though as EVERYTHING is heavily sanded in.
I don't care for the 9k and 10k stuff normally (how can they call it gold when it's more than 50% pot metal??) but beggars can't be choosers.

I hope you find that platinum ticket GH! If not, bring the Huntress to Bermuda or Hawaii and we'll hook you up but come when the sand is out.;)

Cheers,
