Weather Check Where You Live. Are You Detecting At All?

Spent most of the day inside Monday, and made a batch of smoked almonds with peanuts and cheese yesterday evening. The nuts mixture included honey, brown sugar, salt, butter, cinnamon and cayenne powder. An hour or so in the smoker and then the oven and the finished batch was the best in the land.

Here is the cheese I also smoked at the same time as the nuts. The Gouda and Cheddar cheese smoked for about 5 hours in the smoker. Buying smoked cheese in the store can get expensive, yet smoking it costa pennies.

Headed out the other day during the afternoon for about 1 1/2 hours. It was frikk'n freezing. It wasn't the temperature so much as that strong north wind, which kind of blows right through you. As that old saying goes....." It was cold enough to freeze the nuts off a brass monkey."

Here's all the beeps I got today. I got over a dollar....pretty good for this time of year! I was using the AT Pro.

38F degrees today, I would be in the ocean except for the waves that are too high and the tide was at 10am. 6 inches of snow since this morning, and the ground is frozen so no dirt digging and I have no more dynamite. Come on summer...clear the ice from the ponds, bring in the tourists, get this place hoppin' again.

Detecting was better with 28F, tides after sundown, (I had to wear a flashlight and hat with lights on it) and no waves for the four nights Friday-Monday.

You got to do what you got to do to get that coil swinging all year. Still, great exercise for guys our age.

Can't Complain About the Weather ... although, if we had some big winter storms out of the NW, it would erode open some old silver and jewelry.

ATX Surf Finds (less clad) for the last few days pictured below, along with my temporary fix for the headphone connector.

Like the angle protector on the headphone connector, I've seen that before ?.......somewhere :) very innovative.

Hi ivanll,

Thanks, that is just a quick fix until I unsolder the headphone wire and install a proper wire protector. All I did was to unscrew the existing plastic spring wire protector and slid it back up the wire, use an old sparkplug wire boot, slit the inside angle of the boot with a razor knife, slipped it over the wire and threaded connector, and wrapped black electrician tape around the angle boot.

It really helps when your in the surf with the detector leaning against you while your trying to scoop targets.

Thanks for the details behind the "Angle" strain relief. Some day maybe some one will make a proper 90 degree adapter for the one of a kind connector that Garrett has made for them. I have seen the straight ones one e-Bay that come from Ukraine and they could not tell me if they were waterproof. They had both the coil and headphone connectors but call them adapters.

10 days later and no detecting...today through tomorrow morning high winds to 50+mph, heavy rain turning to snow tonight and I'll have to shovel 8-16 inches by 6am.
Thanking Mother nature for the snow, no other way to keep in shape for lifting my water scoop. Good today will be we will be above freezing for a few hours, for whatever good that will do.
Tuesday the cold should end but with rain. Looks like Wednesday will be my next hunt in the 37 degree water, waves willing.

I knew I should have moved to the Caribbean and not SE Massachusetts.

I spent the last few days setting up a new work bench for the ATX. Now all I have to do is fabricate shaft clamp to hold the detector down while I work the cams and use compressed air to clean out the cam locks. Running water, shower, garden hose have not been successful in getting the salt water silt out. I rinse the cams well, let dry and blow out the dried silt. The process is not perfect, but is the best I have done so far.

Shoot...NOA radio just went off with BLIZZARD WARNING for our area 4PM today through 10AM tomorrow...........heading for the travel agent site...got to get out some how.

Stay warm, enjoy some detecting and show me some finds...

THIS IS RIDICULOUS...THE NOA BLIZZARD WARNING JUST INTERRUPTED THE NEWS CAST ON TV...something I have not seen....better than tornadoes.
