Here are a few shots from yesterdays... Took about 50 shots.. These might show you a little more of the track. Though you might get a kick out of some of the rigs they bring in the bikes on. Some serious money tied up to move a bike around. Some of it cold be do to our August races being for money. We do that because its so hot and is usually our slow month in the amount of riders on the gates.
We perfer to race with a full gate, or 40 riders on the line, but as you can see in one picture, not full gates.... Sometimes we run to gates of 40 riders 1 minute behind each other in the same class. Don't think I've posted any of our covered start line gate of concrete. Thats very unusual in New England.... rider 251 if Josh Clark that you see coming off the backboard on the hill... He just got a natioinal ride and sponsor..18 years old.... We like it when our riders make it to the top and have quite a few that have.....John Down, Doug Henry are two others national riders from our club.... We only have one more event left in our races this year. We were the only New England track open in early spring that was snow free to we held a lot of races in April and May, so we are done early this year. We will have open practice events but no more NESC races. We run a loop with 6 others tracks in Maine, NH, Mass, VT and RI, plus us in CT.
We all share the dates and never run against each other.... Anyhow, here are some shots from yesterday. Perfect weather all weekend.

I bet in a way that you are glad that you all only have one more event for the season....lots of hard work. The rig in picture number is big dollars, good looking. When the season is over, hopefully you will have time for more rides on your regular bike. Thanks for sharing, Kelley (Texas) :)

wet it down about every 4 hours if its dry or more if need be. We have it in 3 sections laid out over the entire track....If its hot and dry you would not be able to see the guy in front of you it gets so bad. It also keeps the neighbors happy up the road as that dust will travel.
We pump this out of the river running next to us so we don't spare the water on it.... We blow them out in the fall to keep the lines from freezing.

We took the younger members aside this year and brought them up to speed as to what it takes to keep this club running. We trained a lot of them up on what needs to be done and have had them doing it this year. A lot of the old timers like myself are ready to pass the torch on to the younger members. We will still stay active in it, but a lot of the work load needs to be moved on. After this summer they are now aware of what it takes. If they didn't pitch in, then the dues would triple in order to hire someone to do what we have been doing. We prefer it to be all volunteer. Some volunteer's needed to be prodded a little. With the economy like it is we have seen a major drop in riders this year. Not a cheap hobby if your following the entire circuit. That means your racing every week somewhere.

Yesterday me and 2 others ran the pump system, but for the most part stayed in the shade by the brook. Thats the same brook that washed us out this spring... All of us are anywheres from 68 to 72....so we were glad to see the new helpers....Just have to make it fun. We always did.

Here is a shot of some of the sprinklers.

and its set up to promote the sport of motocross. No one gets paid a dime.... What your seeing is the work of 42 years. The riders change pretty often but the regular worker bee's stay until they can no longer do it.... Unfortunately our deceased plaque is getting a long list on it...Yet, there were all a part of making the club what it is today. After 20 years you become a life member and no longer pay dues... I stay active in it because of my son and also my own love of the sport. I've tried it all at one time or another and still like being around it and seeing the evolution of it to what it is today. We still hold vintage racing, and amazed at some of the old guys that will still toss a leg over a bike and ride.... Even if for only 5 laps, your 16 again....

going to the local track and watching a race, the sounds, smells, and vibrations haunt me. Have not done that in years and nothing like being there for an old racer. Would make me happy and sad not sure which so i appreciate the great photos:thumbup::thumbup:
