Had several days that will be hard to forget. If the winters snows came tomorrow Id be alright till spring time. Permission to be there, took my digging friend out, two trips: this past Sunday he got 6 silver dimes, (not pictured) and I got 4 silver dimes and a 65 Canadian quarter. Today same area, he gets 7 more silver dimes, and I get 3 more dimes, a Washington quarter, a huge 925 religious metal. Luck was with me as I also got my second standing liberty quarter (no date) to date as well as my second Walking liberty half (1944). We where screaming ye haw about every 5 mins. I use a 75 ltd and he uses the AT Pro Garrett. He went over an area I did and picked up several silver dimes I missed and I went over an he did and got several he missed. We where thinking performance was similar. RE the large religious metal, at the bottom of her feet it read 1830, and when I researched on line all these 1830 metals of similar themes popped up, so I thought well Ill search 1840, 1820 and nothing came up. Can you guys help me: was there something special in the Catholic religion that happened in 1830? Or was that the date some special metal was produced than every one started copying it. I mean if it was just the production date wouldnt there also be 18 20, 40 etc. Why so many other 1830 with similar poses, but different halos for instance or different folds in the robes, etc. Im sure mine is 925 and it says sterling on it, but did they put both those references on an object in 1830? Im wondering if it was made later. We are getting back to that site soon. Thanks for looking, good hunts to all, CO

Nice silver! Wow! 1830 signifies the year an apparition of The Virgin Mary appeared to a French nun.

Nice digs Curt! Always fun to hit a target rich area.....just curious was this a park scrape, or did you guys find a virgin spot?

Keep digging!!
