Explorers are silver coin magnets but now on my 4th model SE pro never even looked at the various disc. patterns but decided to make mine a two headed sword for local parks for clad and an occasional gold ring...Took some experimenting, reading and talking to myself but amazing what editing disc. patterns can do making it perhaps the best notch machine ever or at least one of the best as thru trial and error you can make us some interesting patterns. No gold rings yet but sure finding a lot of gas money without listening to a lot of junk...

Patterns have their place thou many feel they are going to miss something if they use them. Its just as likely they would miss it anyway because of depth and co-location of targets. Sure makes for an easy day or if you have little time to hunt and want to cover an area fairly quickly.

[size=large]would you share some of those settings? i'd like to cut out some junk myself.

First and foremost if your looking for extreme depth patterns-setting could cause you some loss of depth...go to Select in your manual and it will out line what you can take out but as a caution many good items and junk hit in the same area so its your call relative the area you are hunting and what you are looking for. May have to read it several times to catch on and Andys Explorer book is a big help as he delves further into this subject....and clearer for the average detectorist.....one of those rainy day situations to furhter enhance your Explorers performance..and you can save up to 6 disc. setting at least on my SE as never played with this aspect on my previous Explorers staring with the XS....
