Waterproofing

Maybe I missed it somewhere (typical) but in the few pics I've seen of a disassembled Nox handle the real water seal seems to be just under the battery, not where the handle wraps the shaft. Anyone know for sure?

you are correct.......i removed mine to replace shaft with new carbon fiber ......battery compartment is just under inside part of handle.......sealed in with what i heard was a oring and held in place by s/s screw......waterproof. someone did a video on it, go to the tube and search for: Rick Pemrt

I found Mr. Pemert and asked him about it and he agreed. Only the battery compartment is waterproof, not the handle/shaft connection. Thanks for the info.

The battery is held in place with a SS screw and a plastic latch. There are actually two O rings around the battery for water proofing. The handle does flood.

Also where the wires go into the control head you can see more water proofing on the see-through
mock up on a certain US government web site.
HINT if you mess with the batteries it would be best NOT to pull hard on the wires !

I also posted pictures of my handle removed...... water drained out from some gaps in the upper part with some sand. Seems that hole that helps secure the handle also allows water below that seal. so far so good.

The reason I'm asking is that intend to change shafts. I have a Quest Q20 as a loaner for kids, etc. It telescopes so compact (about 26") I'd like to have the 800 do that and get rid of the antiquated (IMHO) shaft they put on it. It will take a little finagling but fairly simple. The Q20 also has a better arm cuff, at least for me.

I just put on a carbon shaft that I made myself and was wondering the same thing about the battery compartment. I figured the waterproofing was deeper in the handle but it’s reassuring to hear it from others. Thanks
