I have 2.5x79mm o-rings. I installed in my unit. Nice snugg fit. Also have the 19.5x2mm for USB port. Pm me if you want some

Dpirnwrkr1@gmail.com, feel free to email me, I will send pics of my CTX with o ring

You have done a great thing here for sure, I would love to get a set of these from you as I scuba dive with my excal this will take my CTX to a new level. Please P.M. me I would like to get a set .. Thank you so much for sharing this!!!

Great tips....now I have 2 questions...one is where do I buy the replacement O rings and the other is...have you figured out how to prevent the port for the regular headphones from oxidizing?....mine is turning green after very little use..thinking of just smearing some vaseline over th ehole, but that is messy.....thank you

i have a question, my ctx is out of warranty and I want to take it swimming this summer, obviously water gets in where the gap is where the coil and screen connect to the control box has anyone had issues with water in there causing flooding or corrosion on the metal fittings in there ??

other than the o ring mods is there anything else I need to be aware of?

thanks for the help!

Would putting the bolt from the 1/4" adapter in it Work? Along with some silicon grease?

Or just get a bolt from Lowes for it.

Mark,
Wow, that IS turning green fast.

First off, that's not the 'port for the regular headphone'...that's just the brass threads for the nylon screw that attaches the headphone adapter.
(The headphone adapter uses the same connector the waterproof headphones screw into.)

I'd use a short (maybe 3/8") nylon bolt with an o-ring and put some silicon grease on it before screwing it on...although I have no idea how to clean off the brass corrosion you've already gotten.
(I get my nylon bolts and nuts at a local Ace Hardware store with all the little trays/boxes of odd hardware.)

Thanks for the video.

Just my 2 cents.....You have to be sure to thoroughly clean the ctx after water use. Fortunately, I haven't had that problem with mine but I make sure to use soapy water on my detector after each trip to the beach. I do like the suggestions for sealing the hole, but it will still need cleaning once you get home from the beach.
