Waterproofing my Sov Elite. Have a question.....

Bottomfeeder

New member
I'm doing a basic Sov elite water proofing by enclosing the controls in a Pelican 1200 box. I just want to run the cords into the case, then make solder connections to the ear phone jack, and either splice the coil cable, or perhaps buy a connector that will connect the box to the end of the cable.
My question is, what are the connectors I need to get the wiring through the box wall, and where do I find them.??
Appreciate any info from you guys. Thx.

I use sealcon @ sealconusa.com. You will see there complete product list and can pick the right connectors for your job. You can also checkout mouser and digikey on the web they have IP 68 rated connectors which are watertight rated. or check ikelites website, but they are pricey. William

The 1200 box(good to 30') and Ikelite connectors(thru-cable-#4006).
Just haven't found any place to buy them except the Dive shops,as
they are the only Ikelite dealers I see I can do business with.
Ikelite wasn't too helpful on the diameter of the cable on the
4006 connectors, and the dive shops don't even list them in the
catalogues-just photo equipment.Let us know how it works, and how
you mount it-I thought about a back pack-keeps it out of the way
and up high if your wading.Of course I would test the box first
with nothing in it and submerged for a long time-then check-and
maybe again.Good luck and HH Joe

Sealcon fittings are the way to go and you can get them to match a variety of cable thicknesses. You may have to reduce the wall thickness of that case to get the nut on e.g. cut it down slightly with a forstner bit. For waterproof connectors (I have purchased most of them out there) you can't beat the Brad Harrison connectors for quality and price. Available at mcmaster.com and rated IP 68. Ikelite has the best but they are quite pricey and dealing with local dive shops who are clueless about Ikelite products is no fun.
