hiya fellas,,does anyone out there have any waterproofin tips to use on my machine,,,i read somewhere you can buy a plastic bag,,,a baby bottle teat,,some sealer,,tape,, and make a pretty good job of keeping your machine dry when wading??? have you any info please??? rgds:ukflag:

A plastic bag is the cheapest method. It depends on the detector I guess. Being in Australia rain is not the problem at the moment (at least down south anyway) - its dust. I use an Xterra70 to clear out rubbish and to find small pieces and I am constantly getting dust in the battery compartment which causes the terra to 'switch off'. the factory designed cover is Ok but clumsy and especially annoying if swapping coils over. On my SD2200, I use a plastic bag and my old professional prospector mate swears by them. All tied of with a rubber band. Humidity can be an issue and must be checked. Good hunting.

Hi comcat
You might try looking at the modification forum on here, there are some people on there that have conversions with waterproof cases. No mater how good you wrap it up with plastic bags, tape, baby bottle teats?...........If you drop it in the water.......It is toast. Better get something more dedicated for water detecting..My 2 zincs...... Hombre

There are some who water proof them using sealed boxes and water proof connectors. I used my Cibola and CZ6a up to knee deep in the water but after observing occasional higher waves catching me by surprise, I got a water proof detector that can be fully dunked. I don't trust a plastic bag to hold up to full dunking when coil and headphone cables need to exit the bag.
