Waterproofed Sovereigns.

Does anyone have any pictures (or better yet instructions) on how to make a Sovereign waterproof? Not necessarily waterproof enough for diving, but good enough for the occasional dunking if hit by a wave or dropped. I did a Google search and found that there were a lot of posts here on Findmall, but the photo links are no longer valid.

hiya,,,you could use a heavy duty plastic bag with a zip seal top,,,,,like a freezer or food bag,,,the top off a baby feeder bottle inluding the screw cap and teat x 2 ,,,,METHOD,,,,you make a hole in the bag large enough to put the bottle top through and screw down the cap complete with teat onto the bag,,,cut the end in the teat just big enough for the cable connector to go through ,,and then tape over cable and teat,,,,do same at the top of the bag for phones,,,,put machine into bag and connect to cable,,,connect phones also,,,, fit a neck strap through top of bag above zip,,,or stick to bag with some strong and wide adhesive tape,,, switch on ,,set to auto,,,and zip bag up,,,,VOILA,,,waderproof,,,:ukflag:

WOW! Thanks guys. That's exactly the kind of information I was looking for! :super:

Hey Grave digger nice job, but I was wondering how easy is it to get the cables out if you dont want to use the box ?

I'm still acquiring all the parts needed to do this, but a word of advice for anyone considering doing the same. GSI (The company that makes the Lexan boxes) has seen fit to label 2 different sized boxes as "Large" :rage:. Depending on when the box was manufactured a "Large" box might actually be their "Medium" box, in which case the Sovereign does not fit. Make sure to double check the overall dimensions when ordering.

where can you go to get the waterproof box and waterproof wire connectors ?

I could not find the correct size box in any of my local stores (All too small), but I found both online by Yahoo searching "GSI Lexan" and "Cable Clam". There are also a few of the Cable Clams on Ebay, but the prices there were a bit higher.

Hi GraveDiggerMax-VaBch-Va
Could you tell me where you bought the 8 sided cap and bushing that accepts the cableclam? homedepot only has open ended cap and bushings and yours seem to be closed with a hole. If you modified the cap and bushings could you specify how. These are my last steps but I cant find what I see in your picture for the cap and bushing.
Thank you
