Waterproof your Umax??

Sven

Well-known member
Just came across these new waterproof boxes at Wally World for about $8.00.
Plano Liqua-Bait Wallet #4648
7.375″L x 4.5″W x 1.75″H

Will use one on the PI unit, my winter project.
Looks like it would fit a umax board and 9 volt battery

I like this could you give more info on where to put the outside buttons so they dont get wet.

Thanks mike

If your talking about the controls, you could drill out the top, ends or sides similar to the White's Surfmaster Beach Hunter units.

Use APM hex seals to waterproof your pots, thes are exactly what is used on the White's units as well as Detectorpro headphones

On connectors, Tesoro used a 16mm connector called an "M16". They used to buy them from Methode who quit making them.
Apparently Tesoro doesn't realize that several other companies still make them.
There is also smaller versions, M12 and M8 (12mm and 8mm). I like the M12, just the right size and up to 8 pins.
There are many places you can buy the waterproof cable connectors from:

I think they know exactly what is out there.
Tesoro had other reasons to stop selling the water machines.
Like sell out the existing stock wait a year then release new water detectors.
Why else would they stop making one of their top sellers?

The did get a new injection molding machine ... right?
For making waterproof connectors ... right?
Could not that same injection mold machine be used to produce new waterproof cases for a new detector?

You really think their engineering staff could not fix a connector problem in two years?
