Waterproof pouch for WM10

New member
Saw an pouch/case for an IPhone that had a 1/8" headphone plug and thought I'd give it a try. WM10 fits in it nicely and the connection will allow you to use the WM10 in the rain with no worries. It comes with an arm band and a lanyard so you can put it over your neck if wanted. This should work out well for rainy day hunts where you don't want to be connected with headphones. Total cost to me was less than $20 which included shipping.

This is all well and good, but, what do you do about the gaping hole in the back of the machine where the headphones would normally plug in? Heck, I'm concerned about dirt and dust getting in, let alone water!!

On the back side of the 1/4" headphone module that you remove to access the waterproof headphone connection has a plug that you screw into the waterproof headphone connector on the unit which will keep the water and dirt/dust out of the connector....

Sorry, Cliff, I've lost you on this one. Are you talking about a plug that comes with the waterproof headphones?......or something on the backside of the cover that comes with the machine??
I found the screw in plug that screws over the multi-prong female jack, but, this wouldn't do anything for the opening on the back of the cover. It seems like salt water would do a number on the contacts inside. I plan to get the waterproof headset before I head to the coast, but, using the WM10 and having that hole open, in the meantime, concerns me. I guess I will find a rubber plug that will fit into it or simply put a piece of tape over it.

Thanks for your time and info.....I know newbies can be a pita...

To submerge you would take the headphone unit off (use coin to unscrew plastic bolt) Then inside the headphone unit is the cover the make the exposed connector waterproof.

That makes sense.........thanks for explaining things to a dummy!! I don't recall any of this being mentioned in the manual and I have read it, at least, three times!

Stay safe,

Nothing better than a video to really bring home the facts! Thanks a bunch!

I know this post is older but wanted to thank the OP for posting the video! I've read my manual many times, even carried it with me the 1st 2 months but still didn't know what that screw cap covered or how it's to be used until now! Recently bought the O-ring kit which comes with a couple of those caps and knew it fit the headphone jack but couldn't figure out WHY it was needed, not using waterproof headphones never entered my mind.
